(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Over the past few weeks the NextGenUpdate staff have been looking for ways to use the power and influence of our community to support a good cause. We have over 500,000 members and we would like to use them to help a charitable cause which we think could benefit from our backing.
We eventually stumbled across the 'Custom Button Remapping Petition', founded by Chuck Bittner, or You must login or register to view this content.. Chuck Bittner is a quadriplegic gamer and stand-up comedian. Because of his disability, Chuck plays PlayStation 3 with his mouth and nose, but there are some games he cannot play due to controller limitations. For example, in the game Modern Warfare 2; the actions 'aim' and 'shoot' require the player to hold down L1/LT and R1/RT, but because of his style of playing, Chuck can only hold one down at a time. With 'Custom Button Remapping', Chuck would be able to reassign the shoot button from R1/RT to O/B, for example, which would allow him to hold down both buttons at the same time.
If you don't know already, 'Custom Button Remapping' is the ability to change assigned actions on a controller to any button a gamer chooses. You may have already seen on games such as Modern Warfare 2; 'tactical' and 'default' button layouts, 'Button Remapping' would give you the ability to select the controls button-by-button.
'Custom Button Remapping' not only allows disabled gamers to play games, but it will give gamers world-wide the ability to choose the controls they desire. This will only enhance the gaming experience.

Not a probem, if I could I would sign it a 1000 times. I see the struggle it puts on my brother to play video games and it's not easy, so I'm more than willing to sign this.

This is all still in the works we're just figuring out where we'd like to go with this, while setting the wheels in motion for some things we've already prepared. If you have any suggestions, they would be much appreciated - feel free to contact me directly if you have any ideas as to how we can use the power of our community to get the petition out there.
