Sony's latest firmware hasn't stayed secure for long. On October 19, homebrew developer Gezine posted a short clip on X captioned "Hello 14.10." It shows a PS5 on firmware 14.10 with the console's debug settings menu unlocked.
This isn't Relapse being moved to a newer version. According to Gezine, the kernel exploit they used on 13.xx firmware was patched in 14.00, so this looks like a new exploit chain entirely. That's a big deal for anyone who updated past 13.60 and thought they'd missed their chance.

The catch
Getting into debug settings isn't the same as running backups. Gezine says the old method for dumping game executables no longer works on 14.xx firmware, and a hypervisor exploit may be needed to get there. The Byepervisor-style bypass the scene has relied on isn't currently working on these versions either.
The exploit is also private. Gezine hasn't said whether it will be released. Going public could simply hand Sony the information it needs to patch it.
Why everyone's watching
Timing is everything here. A datamine of PlayStation's backend reportedly shows GTA 6 will require firmware 14.10 when it launches on November 19. On top of that, Sony now requires 14.10 to sign in to PSN. That leaves jailbroken users choosing between their exploit and playing new games online, which we covered in

.
Some people in the scene are already asking Gezine to hold the exploit until after GTA 6 releases, so Sony doesn't get a chance to patch it before the game requires a newer firmware.
Our advice: if your console is on 13.60 or lower and you want to keep homebrew, stay put for now. There's no public 14.10 release, and nothing has been promised.
What do you think: should Gezine release it now or wait until after GTA 6? Let us know in the comments.
