Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Confirmed for Xbox 360/PS3, No Wii U Version

Activision is bringing Black Ops 3 to PS3 and Xbox 360.

We all knew the announcement was coming. After showing little-to-no respect in announcing that Black Ops 3 would be available on Next-Gen consoles and PC only for it's release date, Activision has finally decided to change their tune. Today the company announced that their upcoming addition to the Call of Duty franchise will be headed to the PS3 and Xbox 360 after all.

{img=black_ops_3_5.jpg}"We know that there are still some fans that haven't made the transition to the new console hardware", Activision said in a statement.{/img}

The Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of Black Ops III will be developed by Skylanders and Spider-Manstudio Beenox and Mercenary Technology, which previously worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for PlayStation Vita.

Black Ops III for last-generation consoles will include the game's three main modes: campaign, multiplayer, and the ever popular zombies. However, there will be some differences compared to the current-generation and PC editions. This includes various things such as graphics and patches released for the game on each console. Another example of the difference is that campaign co-op will be limited to two players, compared to four on current-generation systems and PC. In addition, the Black Ops III multiplayer beta will be available only for new machines and computers. Some "other features and functionality" will be missing, Activision says.

If you are gaming on a Wii U, you will not be receiving the release of the game on the Wii U. After the Call of Duty website was updated to let players link their Nintendo accounts, some thought Black Ops III might be coming to the Wii U. That will not be happening though, as Activision also confirmed today that a Wii U edition of Black Ops III is not planned.

So NextGenUpdate users, what do you think of this announcement? Are last gen's consoles causing trouble for currently released consoles by causing devs to focus time on both sides of the spectrum? What console or gaming device are you planning to play the game on? Let us know in the comments section below.
