Something users should be aware of, the Multi-Tasking is only avaible on the iPhone 3Gs, and specific iPod Touch models, namely ones made in late 2009 (32GB and 64GB).
Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, did have a comment on the lack of support for the feature on older models. Saying that, "the hardware just doesn't support it [multi-tasking]".
So it looks like users with the older models of the iPhone and iPod Touch will have to upgrade to newer models or miss out on the Multi-Tasking.
For developers the OS 4.0 Beta SDK is now available at developer.apple.com. For the rest of us, we can expect the update this Summer.
