if the theme deffinetly has a custom lock screen then it has been built or installed wrong because it should always replace it if you are on 4.2.1 if not i dont know whats wrong

Try re-installing the theme again, if not, try a different background image (could be too big or too small), and if that doesn't work, just try changing the wallpaper through the settings, then try and install.
