So what does this mean for 4S owners?

Right now, nothing. MuscleNerd states that this is a PRELIMINARY JAILBREAK - it will not yet be made public due to huge missing pieces.

do u guys think that ios5 will be untethered on the 4S? this only proves its jailbreakable. not that there is a untethered method...

Just remember that evrything can be ha ked there's always a way just that not evrytime is easy to find.

First, there's been 5 userland exploits found in iOS 5, which guarantees an untethered jailbreak.
Second, who cares even if it's tethered? I can live with that :p

Yea plus BigBoss had a tweak that made the phone usable if it ever powered down. It'll most likely be ported over if it's tethered.
