Many complaints from disappointed customers stem from the lack of accuracy of the new Maps app. Previous iOS versions carried Google's Maps application, which is far superior in reliability.

Apple, however, is committed to delivering a productive and efficient Maps application and has assigned a large team to deal with inaccuracies. Large errors have been spotted and reported by proactive users. Missing roads and incorrect points of interest are among some of the many problems Apple has begun to amend.

An iOS 6 user based just north of Auckland, New Zealand noticed that a particular error with an exit from a highway had been promptly fixed. The image below compares the before and after:

Apple has reportedly been updating maps from all around the world, fixing errors which make the app unreliable. This process will take some time and although there hasn't been any major improvements to date, it's a promising sign that Apple is repairing the Maps app. Currently, it may be worth using Google Maps from your iOS 6 device's browser (such as Safari), or downloading an alternative app.
