(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The iPhone Dev team lately released redsn0w 0.9.15b1 to jailbreak iOS 6 (Tethered). It also allows users to re-store and downgrade selected devices from the latest firmware to an old one, and it comes with official Cydia version.

The supported devices include iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod touch 4G. There are no A5 devices supported at the moment. However, the interesting point is that the Hacktivation + baseband support preservation has been added for the iPhone 4 and 3GS as well. Furthermore, there is no need to install Cydia manually.

Redsn0w 0.9.15b1 New Features:

restore from any 5.x iOS to any other (up, down or the same) 5.x iOS on all devices as long as you have the correct blobs (see more below)
Cydia now included in the tethered 6.0 jailbreak on A4 devices
automatically “Just Boot” tethered when qualifying A4 device connects in DFU mode
untethered 6.0 jailbreak on old-bootrom 3GS
untethered 6.0 hactivation on any 3GS or iPhone4
directly restore pre-A5 devices to earlier firmware — no more complicated 15-step how-to’s with stitching, iTunes errors, and “hosts file” concerns
fetch new signed blobs for any IPSW (present or future — no redsn0w update required) using Extras->SHSH Blobs->New
block the BB update for any 3GS or iPhone4 restore (past, present, or future — no redsn0w update required) using Extras->Even More->Restore
deactivate any iPhone, useful for testing your “official” unlock status through iTunes. (Please only deactivate your own iPhone!)
activation status shown on “Even more” page
significantly more (very nerdy) info returned by “Identify” button when device is in Normal mode
tethered jailbreak of ATV2 supported (but the only thing available for it is the SSH2 custom bundle You must login or register to view this content. — no Cydia yet. Must use “Select IPSW” for tethered boot of ATV2 for now).
auto-exit WTF mode for older devices with broken buttons
any time a set of blobs is fetched remotely (from Apple or Cydia), redsn0w also saves them locally (and will check there first if you click “Local”)
for your future restoring convenience, you should also submit all of your past and present TinyUmbrella blobs to Cydia if you haven’t done so yet. Resubmitting is okay and won’t cause conflicts.

How to jailbreak iOS 6 with redsn0w 0.9.15b1:

Step 1: Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b1 (You must login or register to view this content./You must login or register to view this content.)

Step 2: DYou must login or register to view this content. the iOS 6 IPSW file on your A4 device.

Step 3: Launch redsn0w. Run it as administrator if you’re using Windows. If you’re using OS X mountain lion, then launch it with Ctrl-click on the redsn0w icon and then select open from the new menu.

You must login or register to view this content.

Step 4: Click Jailbreak. Start Cydia and enter DFU mode. Once DFU mode starts, redsn0w will start the jailbreak process with the limera1n exploit. After it’s done, select the option named ‘Autoboot this device when it connects in DFU mode’ in order to enter the tethered mode. The device is going to reboot and the Cydia icon will appear on the home screen.

Preserve baseband iOS 6

The ultrasn0w unlockers will need to preserve the older baseband. To do so, click on Extras > Custom IPSW option. Now select the required iOS 6 IPSW file and let redsn0w do its job. After the custom firmware is made, enter Pwned DFU mode by choosing ‘Pwned DFU’ from the Extras option, and restore to the custom firmware.

Tethered boot on iOS 6

The device needs to be booted in the tethered mode every time it’s restarted. It’s easy to do. Go to Redsn0w, click on Extras, and select the ‘Just Boot’ option. Follow the instructions and you’ll be rebooted to the tethered mode of jailbreak.

That’s about it. There’s no untethered jailbreak at the moment, but the Dev teams are putting in an effort to make one soon. We will keep you updated. Feel free to leave comments.
