(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If you have a device with a processor better than the A4 (iPhone 4S/5, iPad 2+, iPod touch 5) then close this page because it won't work for you because these devices aren't susceptible to the limera1n exploit. It works on both jailbroken and untouched firmwares.

Imagine the situation. You're on a jailbroken version of iOS, let's say 6.1.2. You realise that for some reason you need to restore the phone, but oh no! Cydia hasn't cached your SHSH blobs and you didn't save them manually. What are you going to do?

Well in all fairness you don't have to imagine any of that because if you didn't know, all the Cydia-saved SHSH blobs for iOS 6 onwards are effectively useless. So everyone with an A4 or below device is effectively phucked if/when they need to restore as Apple stops signing SHSH blobs and issuing aptickets once a new firmware is released (6.1.3, jailbreak is tethered). So how do you restore to your current version of iOS without having the SHSH blobs or apticket?

The answer comes in the form of a handy tool called iFaith. It's a program that is able to save the SHSH blobs of your current firmware even after Apple stops signing it. It also caches the apticket. Additionally it even cooks together a valid IPSW stamped with your SHSH blobs and apticket, meaning it passes Apple's verification checks and allows you to restore to your current firmware.

Also, if you have nothing better to do you could always downgrade to your earliest version of iOS using a Cydia-cached blob (I did it to 4.1, just 'cause).

The next part is important!

Before doing this, don't even plug the thing in to iTunes. We don't want any pre-empted restores before you cache your current blobs and truly phucking yourself up.

You'll want to download the IPSW of the firmware you're restoring to. You must login or register to view this content. that has plenty of links for you.

Now, while this is downloading, plug your phone in and launch iFaith. You can download iFaith You must login or register to view this content..

Hit "Dump SHSH Blobs" and follow the instructions given to enter DFU.

Once it's done, go back to the menu and hit "Build *signed* IPSW w/ Blobs". Select the blobs you dumped and then select the IPSW you downloaded. iFaith will then cook your IPSW up and save it to your desktop. From here, restore in iTunes.

Bon appétit.
