If it was manufactured after week (I think it's 40-41?), then it has a newer version of "iBoot", which people still haven't found a way around, at least not a publicly released one, so for now you will have to stay with the tethered one. Hoping to see a untethered jailbreak soon myself as it get's quite annoying having to reboot my iPhone with blackra1n all the time, but I guess I'll relay on my iPod when it comes to playing games until then.

If you want to check the week it was manufactured in, then go to your settings and check the 4th and 5th number of your serial, they represent the week number.

No geohot(maker of blackra1n) said he is not going to make a new version. all of the devs. are not going to waste there time on a untethered jailbreak for ipod touch 3g and iphone 3gs. They are going to work on the iPad and new iphone when it comes out...

So dont count on new jailbreak!!
