I believe console banning prevents you from signing in. So no, they are using something else from your ps3 to prevent you from playing online

Im 90% sure they aren't console banning for playing but, A Friend of mine actually was recently account banned (today lmao) after playing (FGT had his copy early)

oh cuz i recently bought it legit, i was trying the duplex to see if it was worth it (never finished download), any ways i was on ofw and couldnt get on, but i was playing on the same account earlier from a backup worried they accidently banned the wrong ps3 lol

I believe an account ban is an account ban no matter what PS3 you are using.. While a console ban is when they ban your console ID so you can't play on that console, it should say it on that thread I linked.
