Me and say 1 mate plays custom zombies dont do anything in the custom options, just play. do well but it don't save to leaderboads!! If u go online play u get ppl u don't know coming in. Pls help me and my mates are getting to high lvls but it's not saving to leaderboads. Thanks

Custom games don't seem to keep track of rounds played on the leader boards but the other stats like kills/revives/headshots/etc work on custom games.

If you want a game with only 2 or 3 people, log in with a second controller to fill your room to 4 people. After you ready up, just back out with the second controllers before the countdown is finished and the game starts.
