The only difference is that you're going to want to sign out in this method in order to be able to hear the host.



Text tutorial:
1) Sign in with a second controller
2) With your first controller, go to custom game mode and choose your choice of game
3) Once in the custom game, click on map, and once you're there back out until you reach a screen that says to leave party
4) With your second controller, click on yes
5) The game should start, and once you're loading the game/ingame, tell a friend(s) to join
6) Once you're ingame and your friend(s) are also in with you, sign out via XMB
7) By signing out, your friends should be brought back to a waiting lobby
Simply sign back in and join your friend's session
9) Have fun

My friends keep getting kicked out of the lobby... any help on that?

Does this occur right after you sign out, or during the waiting lobby? This process is still raw, but if it's during the lobby then it's probably due to them being unable to host. If it occurred when you signed out, did you wait until they fulled joined in-game? I have some reports where it's better if your friends join you after the map loading screen is fully done and you're actually in-game.

I'm assuming that this works on XBOX as well since it doesnt have "Special" steps that are only PS3 capable. All the steps are do-able on 360 in that exact order. If anyone wants to try it on there, add me.

During the waiting lobby... I think, he keeps getting kicked when I'm about to join the lobby to play with 8 players.

I tried this method on Xbox and it didn't work for me. I got it up to the point where it loads the game (after backing out to a lobby with the 1st controller and a matched player) but in the middle of loading, it quits, with the error "not enough people in party" or something along the lines of that (I don't really remember the error message but there was one). Happens every time I try to do it this way. I'm alright with that though, I just use the lag switch method and it works almost every time.
But you can still try this method yourself.

Guys/Gals I figured out how to make it work!

You enter the the game with you and a friend as normal. Let the zombies down both of you. It will end the game. You both will in up in an 8 player pre-game lobby. From there the original host backs out and rejoins. This worked for me and my buds earlier. No need to sign out just back out then rejoin.

I like all of you was also unable to get the OPs steps to work. However, if you back out the second controller and a friend joins the lobby then just let the game end. It will then try to start another game with the countdown.

but surely once the game starts this way your friends can't join mid-game and all have to join fast before the game starts, right?
