throwing your grenades makes you lighter lol never heard of that... might work though lol
p.s. getting up through the little fence to the left of the bounce is way faster... its a small glitch so there probably isnt a vid on it but it definately saves time when you try the bounce numerous times...

its hard in old school =[ in regular mode i guess its easier but you also die a lot more from missing the bounce and it takes forever to get back up there so idk its easier in normal mode but it also takes more patience =[

I've done it a couple of times but I always hit the bounce and never get up..
