if you game freezes everytime while loading up the online portion... then follow these steps ( sorry if this is already posted, people just always ask me how so this is purely for them)

1. quit the game.
2. go to the game section on the xmb menu.
3. locate both folders where saves are kept ( the one with the updates and 1 with the general saves you saved) (DLC's will be deleted unfortunatly)
4. once both have been deleted load up call of duty 4 and do the updates
5. once it has updated the online will let u back on to play.

hope this helps anyone i know who has this problem and helps anyone that see's this needing the answer

Also restart your router will help in most cases
