1. Don't lose your cool.
The best and first thing you should do is to keep your mentality, Call of Duty is just as mental as it is shooting and knowing strategies and reaction times and such. The angrier you are, the more likely you are to rush in blindly and make mistakes and not be able to build a streak.
2. Drop shot.
Whenever you're using a less powerful gun or you think that in one on one battles you always lose, drop shotting is a really good tactic to use. There's three steps to the dropshot: Drop, lock, and pop. Drop means go prone, lock means take aim at your enemy, and pop means kill them. And if you string these three steps together into one motion the enemy won't know what hit them.
3. Get that UAV.
Everybody wants a helicopter, right? Well the best thing you can do for you and your team is to get a UAV. Once you have that UAV you know where all the enemies are, so an airstrike should quickly follow. And, if you still have that UAV up then the airstrike should be a straight run to a helicopter. Another thing the UAV does is helps your teammates get UAV's too, soon you have a constant UAV up and the streak is now building.
4. Save your grenades.
Your grenades could be wasted for a kill in the beginning of the game, yes, but if you save your stuns and frags they can be used to kill a camping sniper, blow up claymores and C4, or stun the enemy and allow yourself to escape to safety.
5. Position yourself right.
What this means is put yourself in a postition on the map where you can get the most kills but be in the safest stop. A good place for this is near your teammates. Why? Because they can die and alert you to where the enemy is. This might seem a little cruel but I think it's the least a teammate can do for me if he goes 1 and 20 on Team Deathmatch.
