Many rumors have been going around about Black Ops 2, the perks, the guns, etc. However, due to recent gameplays being released, I grabbed a snap and decided to do a little 'dissection' of the class along with some other factors which make this game new.

Class:
You must login or register to view this content.

As you can see above, all of the elements of the class are there as the player was selecting one at the beginning of the game.

 • Primary

Indifferent from any other Call of Dutys, it's just a primary. This particular "Mercenary" class has Type 25, seeming relative to MW3's Type 95 by the gun's shape shown in the gameplay.

 • Attachments

Similar to Black Ops's notorious "Reflex Sight", Black Ops 2 has it as well. However, after watching the gameplay, one could tell it looks pretty darn similar to a red dot sight found in any other Call of Duty.

 • Secondary

I hadn't once in the gameplay see the player pull out his secondary, but it looks as it's some type of launcher.

 • Perks

Just like any other Call of Duty, Black Ops 2 feature 3 perk slots, however, as you can see above, there are oddly 2 perks in the first tier? Something different? New feature? Don't know yet. We'll all have to see on that one. It seems many perks from prior Call of Dutys have returned; some of which including cold-blooded, ghost, lightweight, and dead silence. It also appears ghost and cold blooded are in different tiers. Something Call of Duty players have craved for since Black Ops.

 • Equipment

Much like any other Call of Duty, the frag grenade appears. Same as all of them. For the players tactical equipment, he has a Black Hat PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). Seems odd, and different from other Call of Dutys and I'm not quite sure what it does yet, but I guess that's something we have to find out.

 • Wildcards

Seems extremely different from anything I've seen in Call of Duty, but based on speculations and rumors, perhaps it's some type of replacement to the specialist loadout from MW3?

You can use wild cards to let you use another perk from the same tier. So that explains ghost and lightweight.

New HUD

You must login or register to view this content.

Again, similar to other Call of Dutys in that the score is off to the left, the killstreaks stack on the right, and the ammunition supply stays to the right on top of the equipment as well. However, there seems to be a different look. Not sure if you noticed on this, but instead of the tedious requirement to press start to see how many points there are to win, there is a little line of text on top of the score describing it.

New gamemode: Hardpoint

You must login or register to view this content.

What seems to be similar to the notorious Call of Duty gamemode known as headquarters, Hardpoint is brand new to Black Ops 2. However, unlike headquarters, after you die while the objective is captured, you still go on living. Indifferent from Drop Zone from MW3, you only get points when the hardpoint radius is being stood on by team mates. As soon as you get off of it (unlike headquarters), the points stop coming in.

New Scoreboard Layout

You must login or register to view this content.

Indifferent to any Call of Duty, when you press select, you can see your kills and deaths via scoreboard. However, in Black Ops 2, the scoreboard has been changed completely in appearance. Not to mention, similar to the original Black Ops, objective stats will display on the scoreboard.

Calling in Killstreaks

Unlike the notorious "pulling a one-touch remote out of your ass" method to call in a killstreak, Black Ops 2 has a new way of doing it. As you can see You must login or register to view this content., the player presses a button on his nifty little watch when he wants to call in a UAV.

However, there appears to be more than one way to call in a killstreak in Black Ops 2. As you can see You must login or register to view this content., the player pulls out his PDA (personal digital assistant) when he wants to take control of his sentry gun. Perhaps this method is only for interactive killstreaks?

Game Winning Killcams

You must login or register to view this content.

Ever since Modern Warfare 2, game winning killcams (GWKs) have been a huge asset to anyone that wants to show off their new gun, pull off a super 1337 trickshot, or just challenge their friends to getting the final kill. Similar to Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3, the Black Ops 2 GWKs will be independent of the gamemode, whereas for Modern Warfare 2, it had to be Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch, or Free for All.

Panic Knifing

Despite numerous rumors of this dreaded feature's elimination, it sadly has returned. As you can see You must login or register to view this content., the user panic knifes an enemy at whit of no ammo in the clip. Yep, as disappointed I or anyone else may be, it's back, unfortunately.

Dolphin Diving

Hurray! Another awesome feature from Black Ops returns. As you can see You must login or register to view this content., the user tries to escape from an aware enemy player by dolphin diving, but sadly fails. Sorry for him, but all in all, I'm sure that I'm not speaking for myself when I say that I'm glad to have it back.

Some Returning Killstreaks

 • UAV

You must login or register to view this content.

The UAV is back. Indifferent from any other Call of Duty, the UAV remains a 3 killstreak and is countered by the counter UAV. Users who use the coldblooded perk belonging to the second tier will remain hidden from enemy UAVs.

 • Care packages

You must login or register to view this content.

As you can see above, the care package is back. Ever since Modern Warfare 2, users could try their luck in obtaining any killstreak by calling in a care package. Different to any prior care package's appearance, it returns once again in Black Ops 2.

 • Counter UAVs

As you can see in the image above presenting the care package, the user obtained a counter UAV. Being the only thing to balance out UAVs, it's back once again in Black Ops 2.

 • Sentry Guns

You must login or register to view this content.
You must login or register to view this content.

As you can see in the two images above, the sentry gun returns. However, in Black Ops 2, it appears you can let the sentry do it's thing by itself and be an un-armed auto-sentry, or instead, you can control it similar to that of the remote sentry from Modern Warfare 3. Also like in Modern Warfare 3, when you decide to control your sentry gun, red boxes appear around your enemies.

Throwing Knives/Tomahawks

Ever since Modern Warfare 2, the throwing knife/tomahawk has been one of the funnest things to just toss around and push your luck with extremely lucky throws. As you can see in this clip, they return similar to the Black Ops version of them, the Tomahawk.

Riot Shields

As you can see in the clip shown above displaying throwing knives, the player went up against an enemy with a riot shield. Probably one of the funnest things to use while camping in the back of the map in a corner with some friends, the riot shield is back.

The Minimap

You must login or register to view this content.

Just like any other Call of Duty, the mini map for Black Ops 2 appears in the top left corner of the screen. However, it resembles the one from the original Black Ops heavily in that it's similar to it in appearance.

Other Minor Speculations

 • The Parkour/Hurdle

"Press X/Square to jump" over returns in Black Ops 2.

 • Picking up weapons

"Press and hold X/Square to pick up this weapon" returns in Black Ops 2.

 • Annotations/Notifications

"Player has called in a UAV (or whatever killstreak)" is back on Black Ops 2 similar to that of Black Ops, but on the left hand corner of the screen. When a player levels-up, it displays as well.

 • Quickscoping

One of the biggest things to Call of Duty gamers since Modern Warfare, quickscoping is back.

Thank you guys for reading. Hope I pointed out anything you guys may have missed/not yet seen. If you'd like to see my source, you can view the video below. Thanks to kmanthecaveman for reuploading the video when Nymmyy's got taken down. Thanks to him as well for getting the gameplay.

I like the new HUSad Awesome futuristic and simple. Sometimes when things are highly futuristic it takes away from simplicity, however this doesn't seem to be case with Black Ops II. It's good to see something new with regard to the class selection menu.

Great analysis Smile

Hi, I don't like you
A little disappointed with the knifing but overall I like the direction that they took this game. Still not getting it the day it comes out or anything, going to wait to see what is said about it.

The section about perks, you can use wild cards to let you use another perk from the same tier. So that explains ghost and lightweight.

I'm not too happy to have dolphin diving back. It was annoying and pointless. Now if you could shoot and dolphin dive at the same time then it would be amazing, but I'm assuming that you cannot just like in Black Ops :(

It would, wouldn't it. Mother of God

But hey, I'm fine with just killing myself from fall damage when stupidly diving out of windows. =D

I noticed a little something different, I don't know if anyone else picked it up. But look at the Microphone indicators next to the Mini-Map. Some of them are different colours, could this indicate that the red one's are enemy Microphones? Or was it just a random add they did. :p
