As you all no that the servers are really lagy/Glitchy but i found a fix on why it freezes when you start the game.
What to do:
-Start the game Offline
-Go to Multiplayer
-Go to options
-then Put Load As Defualt: MULTIPLAYER
-Turn off your ps3
-Start it up
-dont sign in and start the game.
-Sign in when at multiplayer menu
-And thats it hope that helped

Now my ps3 is freezing when i start up the game

This doesn't always work though it's only temporary. Surely once the servers are at DEFCON 5 the freezing will subside somewhat however it's a 3arc game, expect it to lag and freeze like a mother chicken.

Nothing WE are going to to our consoles is going to make THEIR server issues better.

I understand and appreciate the help but no secret witchcraft or home remedy will fix this. It is on 3arc's end.
Previous bans, Old PS3, irritable bowel syndrome or being left handed has nothing to do with these freezes and server issues folks.

one thing you may try perhaps is copy the textures to hdd...havent had a crash since ive done that
