(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello NextGenUpdate today we cover the world of shotguns. Yes the most overpowered weapon in the game (not).
My plan is to cover gold camos tips , overall tricks , load outs , also get to hear my view on each one.
Shotguns in this game are weapons which depend on your playstyle and load out. At the same time they take a bit of effort to use and do good with. Map knowledge and knowing when to attack is key to the high risk high reward class.
Would add map routes but the call of duty maps are basic enough it pointless covering that.

So lets start off with the first shotgun Smile!!

Remington 870 MCS aka Killer queen

870 is “Get out of my face” card , close range insane power behind it a lot of people call this gun overpowered. I don't think that , would say it under powered welcome to disagree with me. Good within its niche and a great starter shotgun. 870 is pretty easy to use shotgun due to being buckshot, has good range and power. A key weakness of the 870 is near the end of its range if becomes a 2 hit kill pretty slow to kill at that range.
870 is a shotgun which anybody can use and most of the time do better with. It's also pretty useful in controlling a building and pretty hard to move you. Gets worse if you use Betties and Claymores.

Tips : Hipfire with the 870 at close range and ADS near mid range.
ADS you get a massive bonus which decreases your spread and means you can hit people near the edge of your range.
You won't get the same one hit kill range as the KSG 12 but close. If all else fails switch to your side arm simples.

Setups

Laser and long barrel (LB)

A lot of people are going to be shocked by that setup , yes it's the classic laser and LB. Creating the classic killer queen setup you can't go wrong with this setup. It removes the main fault of the 870 the stupid hip fire spread and gives you a small range increase.

You must login or register to view this content.
Quick draw and LB
Lightweight killer queen , if your the sort of guy who hip fires the 870 a lot keep clear. This is an ADS build only time you should hip fire with this setup when people get too close.
Due to the ADS bonus and the fact the 870 can one hit quite a range away , both go hand in hand.

S12 aka Addicted to chaos

A lot of people dislike this shotgun and I have trouble working out why. It lacks the power the 870 or KSG 12 has but makes up with spam power. If you like to rush spawns this gun is for you, wiping out more than one person this gun can do it. It's a spamming shotgun of choice I got so many quad feeds/triples with this it insane.
Under used due to getting camo's for other guns right now but it's my shotgun of choice.

Tips: hip fire and laser , for some odd reason this gun has recoil when you ADS it and spray. The result you need to be careful how much you pull the trigger.

Setup

You must login or register to view this content.
You could trade the stun for a black hat but I find the stun is useful on this shotgun. This build is designed to keep moving and get behind people.
Not much else to say it pretty easy spray friendly shotgun.

KSG 12 aka Rage valley

Love it or Hate it the KSG 12 , a shotgun which can treat you right or slap you down.
KSG 12 is an interesting idea for the call of duty series a slug shotgun which means the insane range and power but one slug. The result if you hit somebody on the head it kills up to 27.5 meters away. That makes it the longest range shotgun in call of duty history.
Comes at a heavy price close range the KSG 12 is pretty poor so you're forced to mid range only. One slug can hit at any point in your hip spread the result it's pretty random if you're going to win or die.

Hit or miss for me but it's deadly when that slug hits , couple great rounds with it. Takes some time to get used to due to having to ADS and dealing with the delay.

Tips : Aim down sights stupid!!
KSG 12 is all about the slug so ADS when you want a kill , if you are going to hip fire now and again use laser but be warned the slug may miss.
Another tip is to ADS and let it settle due [ You must login or register to view this content.

Awesome thread and well written as usual. I will eventually give shotguns a try. I will add 2ยข

I personally don't think shotguns are overpowered at all. I just put most of its users in the "troll" category. Meaning guys that will kill you but rarely get a streak higher than three kills.

Most people seem to use shotguns the wrong way. Shotguns take skill and map knowledge to be effective since not only is your range the most limited but the weapons are inconsistent. You'll see a guy one shot with a KSG from say the B flag on Raid to the opposite end at top of steps. Yet the very next kill you could be 3 feer away and get a hit marker.

So the skill needed, inconsistent range, and map limits a shotguns effectiveness and the users seem to not care how many times they die. They just run out in the open with no regard to enemy headglitching or lights of sign ie using shotgun on Turbine.

The guys who use shotguns and massacre people are my favorite COD players to watch. It's no secret I hated Support in MW3 and the biggest reason was quick scopers and shotgun guys could be as bad as they want and still "earn" killstreaks. So you'd see a 10-24 guy spamming Striker until he made contact then he'd die while you're watching your killcam.

I will try out your M1216 class tonight because well I like the reload lol. I'm going to try it on Raid, Overflow and maybe Yemen.

To be fair, I've only used the R870 and the KGS. I loved the KGS, as it felt like a god damn sniper to me. When I first used it, I couldn't believe the range. It felt like the Akimbo Model 1887's back in MW2.. but with a slightly decreased range. I only tend to use the shotguns in free for all, just because of how limited I feel when I'm using them.

Plus, in free for all, the spawns are everywhere so I tend to have people near me often than not. Unlike team based games where spawns are mostly on one side or another, free for all - for me - is the best mode to run shotguns in. I got gold on the KGS... and as you know, the bloodthirsty challenge gave me a hard time. And I wasn't even the one to finish it.

I also do like the R870, but I shy away from shotguns because of how restricted I feel with them. Since I finished my diamond camo's for the AR's and reached 10th prestige.. I feel as I completed what I wanted. No more XP grinds or trying hard for certain challenges, I can finally have fun. So my next goal may be to get the diamond shotguns. We'll see.

Great thread by the way. I can tell you really love em shotguns lol

Nice thread RTS.. At least I'm not the only one who thinks that shotguns aren't overpowered, it's pretty much like Porter said. It's just people who don't get a killstreak past three and go around and "troll" you with their shotgun. But back to the topic... the only shotgun I have ever used was the 870 and it's treated me well. However I don't pull out some phenomenal K/D but when you use it to defend objectives on Hardpoint or Headquarters it is amazing. But after reading this thread I might attempt to get diamond camo for the shotguns. :p

Keep up the good work bro, enjoyed the thread.

Only time shotguns can be semi inconsistent for me is when i'm moving around. Number of reasons to why most people could guess why. Compared to MW3 they work better due to the ADS bonus.

"shotgun on Turbine" won't lie I tried to do that lol , it works but you need to be so careful only. For anybody guesing it was KSG 12.
M1216 class is a dirty gem and I was not going to share it. It came about due to a joke class and sort of worked.
39/13 5 caps 5 defends :p

Killstreak UAV/Lightstriking and vsat. Don't let me into your spawn with a sil shotgun. Oh hijacked sometimes you can be good for me.
It strange shotguns = vsat's

A friend of mine said this once "You can get great games with shit, and turn it into gold how"

*nods*

Diamond camo is easy but take some time.
I ruined some shotgun trolls stuff with my shotguns before now even got hatemail for it. :( I play the metagame too much.

5/9 ARs done so far , the SMR is going to make it 6.

Shotguns are just fun to use and enjoy the challenge Smile. Plus the hatemail is fun so yea. At first I did feel limited by shotguns but many hours later, worked out a method.

And thanks Smile

Red dot does not increase range I wish it did :(
ADS bonus coming into effect goes from 6 degrees moving to 3. And standing still you get 2 degrees.
*I can't remember the numbers but the degrees change based on moving etc

:p that not a bad class but I find the red dot pointless.

---------------------

Thanks for all the feedback so far Smile
Going to do the same for SMGs maybe and ARs.
