At the end of the day some people are better at dealing with campers than others. Camping by itself won't make someone a better player so although it clearly takes more skill to rush, rushing in itself doesn't mean skill. Contrary to what we think, the MAJORITY of players rush and/run around pressing buttons. So going 10-23 means you had a bad game usually regardless of if you were "rushing" or not. Going 30-3 usually means a good game and whether you camped or not doesn't take away what you did, it obviously just cheapens it. I personally think the only way to consistently do well is to rush and at the least being aggressive. Meaning rushing but if you have to try and hold a B flag or you see the enemy is spawning in an area, you patiently take them out. If you're an aggressive player who likes to dominate and win you probably wouldn't be camping anyway. It's easier to rush for K9 unit on Black Ops 2 than it is to camp for Attack Dogs on Black Ops 1.
So camping is really going to hurt you if that's all you do anyway because unless you're playing noobs, there are too many things that will take you out. Speaking of noobs I also notice that a few of the big Youtubers rush but I only see them playing noobs. Which begs the question:
Is rushing against absolute noobs any better than camping or playing defensive against good players? It's almost like bragging about whooping ass on Madden online with the Cleveland Browns yet you purposely play people with bad records.
Well what you describe is pretty much camping with not much of a gray area. Not sure how you're saying camping is somehow not as egregious as drop shots especially seeing as how dropshots in BO2 is nerfed compared to previous COD games. If you drop shot in BO2 you pretty much have to still be accurate and you can't actually turn/spin in any direction. And "pros" don't go around trick shotting or quick scoping, only trolls and people looking for montage clips do those things. A legit sniper knows how to snipe in all facets, they wouldn't be solely trying to do trick shots or certainly wouldn't be those annoying fucks using semi auto snipers like the SVU just spraying...
I personally think camping is overused although what you described is pretty much what camping is. Thing is, if you have a competent player/rusher on the other team they usually know how to curtail some of that. Meaning they wouldn't constantly run the same way getting killed over and over thinking that raging and screaming about you camping actually does anything compared to flanking, using nades, C4, a streak, or just avoiding you til you realize no one is coming.

Shock charges are about as campy as it gets. However, I run Tac Mask on 80% of my classes and it's very rewarding to run through a shock charge and kill whoever was trying to wait on that hitmarker.
You're right, what I meant is some people will call you camper before you even start camping - first blood kills actually occur a few seconds after a match has started, so killing even from a window and even with a target finder then doesn't necessarily mean your camping.
Same as when people walk on a mine anywhere and shout fucking camper!
That being said, and given that pure camping is in my opinion a nono in objective based games, cause you hurt the team.. camping in TDM and KC is a legit strategy if you askme.
But then again, there's a difference between camping around a corner getting 4 kills in a whole match or camping smart spots where you have clear line of sight from one or two windows in high traffic areas and can also rack up kills when people come to take you out from close range.
For example, the roofs in Plaza.. pretty much any house except the kebab shop in Standoff, the upper floors in Hijacked and so on.
When I camp I hardly ever get less than 20 kills in a match (not too bad), usually 30+ (my record is 85-4).
I don't hurt my team and I have fun.
And like you said, skilled players will take you out of a camping spot especially if they team up.
But most of the people cursing and raging are too stupid to realize it's actually easy to make a camper's life miserable if you use a class with stuff like Engineer (or tac mask, flakjacket), EMP nades, FMJs etc to go get them.
They will keep coming back exactly the same way they did before, die on the claymore or get shot in the face, yell, rinse and repeat..
It's actually their fault because this game gives you all the tools to easily counter campers in any map, any place.
About bunny hopping and dropping.. while dropping is a real life strategy in some situations, it looks ridiculous when abused in my opinion.
It's perfectly fine and surely legit though, and I surely don't complain (besides, I usually kill droppers no problem).
Bunny hopping on the other hand is by no means cheating of course, but it looks stupid, not to mention that COD soldiers can barely run for 20 meters or so and I wonder how they manage to jump like basketball players, but whatever.
Then again it is legit so I surely don't complain, but I find it funny that some people think it's perfectly normal to run around hopping like kangaroos in "war" yet it's a sin to hold an easily defendable position
