Vehicles will return, but they will be very different than those in Call of Duty: World at War.
Black Ops will feature a dedicated co-op campaign, supporting up to four players, which uses different levels than the singleplayer campaign. When Treyarch's Community Manager was asked about zombies in an interview, they stated that they could not talk about the co-op campaign, with a cheesy grin on his face and drinking a lot of water, hinting that it could be a zombie campaign.
Treyarch is considering releasing a beta-build test, and has hinted that it is likely.
Matchmaking is being changed so that it is easier for friends to play together.
Some campaign levels will be based off multiplayer maps instead of the typical vice-versa. This change is because some multiplayer maps had been made before the campaign was finalized.
Create-A-Class 2.0 will allow players to customize their appearance in addition to their loadout.
Customized killstreaks will return, but the game-ending Tactical Nuke will not. Kills earned from killstreak rewards will not count towards increasing a player's killstreak.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 perks Commando and One Man Army are not going to return.
The PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature dedicated servers.
Shotguns and Machine Pistols as secondary weapons are not expected to return, as Treyarch stated in an interview that they give the player "too much firepower".
Call of Duty: Black Ops will let the player record demos ingame, which could be done in pre-MW2 PC Call of Duty games.
Sentry gun-like cameras (Camera Spike): Detects enemy nearby on your radar. The camera's live feed (in thermal vision) replaces your radar.
3 killstreak: A remote-controlled buggy that explodes when detonated by user.
4 killstreak: Care Package
5 killstreak: Something like Predator Missile called the Ark Angel but it can be controlled freely and guided around the map, not straight down to the ground like the Predator Missile.
Weapon Camouflages: Woodland, Arctic and Desert.
Ballistic Knife: Can be shot and reloaded.
Grenades like Semtex (Stickable).
New Function: Players can now record, manage, edit and upload in-game video clips.
New Maps: Launch and Summit
The crossbow is in Multiplayer. Unlike in Singeplayer, it does not have a scope by default, and it seems explosive tipped bolts are an attachment as the name of the crossbow seen in the multiplayer teaser is "Crossbow Explosive Tip". It also appears to be a secondary weapon.
There appears to be some type of 'UAV Ball', like in Battlefield: Bad Company, which show red dots on the radar in a small radius. This can be seen at around 1:05 in the Multiplayer teaser.
Treyarch has confirmed that it will be close to impossible to use any kind of mods in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
It seems that the player will have the ability to perform a diving roll. This can be seen at around 0:41 in the multiplayer teaser.
The smiley face on the Red Dot Sight and engraving on the Commando (weapon) are most likely features of Create-a-Class 2.0
In the beginning of the trailer, the numbers 2010:3:2 are visible on a digital clock. This was the day Call of Duty: Black Ops was announced, March 2, 2010.
At the end of the trailer, there is a man holding a pistol. The name "Sally" can be seen on the pistol.
The "Sally" pistol has roughly eight tally marks on it, probably the amount of kills with it.
Treyarch will employ a motion capture technology similar to the one used in James Cameron's Avatar film, which will capture the whole performance of the actor, as well as allowing accurate facial expressions.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is the first game that Treyarch has ever devoted their entire staff to with no other games in development.
Both Major John Plaster, who served in the MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War, and Sonny Puzikas, a former Soviet special forces operative, are being consulted by Treyarch for the game.[29]
It seems that now players can destroy small buildings and huts with the M202 "Grim Reaper" rocket launcher as shown in the reveal trailer. This may mean that there will be destructible environments throughout the game.
GKNOVA6, when the password is entered looks very similar to the radio equipment and T.V.'s seen in the Teaser Trailer.
In the reveal trailer, the narrator speaks about truth and that it is full of lies. Captain Price also talked about this in the cutscene of Endgame in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
A recent promotion for Black Ops featured in the Gamer Informer magazine stated that the first 300,000 to pre-order the game will get a two sided poster, and on the other side is something potentially helpful to the player.
It appears Treyarch has focused on the fact 'The player has a body', because in the trailer you can see the player's legs.
Studio head Mark Lamia said there is a huge difference between the Vietcong soldiers who charge at you in an almost suicidal style and the Russians who are much more stealthy and will hide behind objects.
In the multiplayer trailer, it appears that you can roll, as to your right, someone is rolling as seen on 0:37.
Also, Spetsnaz soldiers would perform a move known as "getting off the X", which is doing a series of dives and rolls to avoid being in-line with an enemy's weapon.
