Well, almost all of us are excited for the release of the seventh game in the Call of Duty series. Treyarch's newest installment in the epic saga does not only look promising, but they've been with us through it all, asking us what we want, asking us how they can improve the single player and multiplayer gameplay.
There are about 70 days until Black Ops is released, and for a gamer who is as enthusiastic as me for this release, that can seem like years. I've gone through my collection of games that I've played to hold me off until a game's release, and wanted to share some great titles with you (some of my favorites) that will surely hold your attention just long enough until Black Ops is released.
Battlefield: Bad Company II - the second game in the Bad Company series. DICE did an amazing job sculpting the online gameplay, and made sure that the single player campaign was equally as enjoyable. Unlocking news weapons and ranking up will keep you coming back for more.
--------------------------------------
Sniper: Ghost Warrior - for every gamer out there who enjoys sniping. This game, developed by City Interactive, allows you to take the role of an army sniper, trying to restore peace to a small island nation. With realistic ballistics and stealth system, this game is good for at least two play-throughs, and the multiplayer is fun in its own right.
--------------------------------------
Borderlands - with all the add-ons in this game, the amusement lasts a long time. With 100's of enemies, over 60 levels to reach, millions of weapons, and tons of quests, this game's replay value is amazingly high.
--------------------------------------
Left 4 Dead I/II - Two words: Zombie Apocalypse. This game never gets old. Every time you bash a zombies head in with a frying pan, or blow a zombie apart with a shotgun, you just get that utter sense of satisfaction. The multiplayer is fun as hell, and the single player can give you the challenge you need.
--------------------------------------
Darksiders: Wrath of War - a game resembling The Legend of Zelda and God of War. It borrows mechanics from some of the most popular video games in the history of the gaming industry. The thing that sets it apart from other games that do this, though, is it does it well. It mixes puzzle-solving with gruesome violence, adventure with action, and endless fun with a great story. Slashing through thousands of demons on your trusty horse truly makes you feel god-like.
--------------------------------------
Shadowrun - cross-platform multiplayer and an intricate online system makes this game playable for hours on end. You can use various gadgets/spells on various classes and races to give yourself that tactical edge. You can go in guns a'blazing, or with your katana held high, ready to decapitate your foes.
--------------------------------------
Red Faction: Guerilla - total destruction. This is the best Red Faction title, so far. You can destroy almost anything, and cause extreme amounts of chaos in order to bring justice to the EDF, a corrupted organization planning on exploiting Mars' resources. This game has extremely fun online and offline multiplayer, and a very good single player campaign.
--------------------------------------
Mass Effect II - the second in the series, Mass Effect II provides lots of enjoyment. Being a great RPG/third-person shooter hybrid, and having a great storyline, Mass Effect 2 is good for multiple playthroughs. And with many alternate endings to see and paths to choose, there is motive to play through the story countless times.
Thanks mate. ^_^ I'll add more titles, later, but these are just the ones that have kept my attention the longest. I've gotten rid of them all, except for Sniper, but I regret trading them in.
