Whether you saw that thread or not, it is confirmed. The highest rank in past CoD games has been Commander, which is 5 stars. Well look at this pic.

He is level 50 and rank Commander. This must have been no need for a lot of ranks since rank doesn't determine unlocks now.

Until you hear one of the devs say its confirmed you cannot establish anything as confirmed.
