When you or a teammate is downed, you are not completely helpless. At the very least--because this is a strategy game--you should have a "downed strategy". I'm going to provide a few suggestions for your teammates who are still up, and for you, who is "downed".

"Up Teammates"

Revive your teammates if you can, utilizing focused firepower if that would be effective, or a Monkey Bomb if you have them. If your downed teammate has an effective weapon to cover you, do not revive him from a position where you are standing in the way of his line of fire...as a matter of fact, never stand directly between him and advancing Zombies.

If you cannot revive him almost immediately:

...Keep in mind that most of the Zombie maps generally have a survival loop that is being run in the higher rounds, and it may be much easier to run that loop quickly and return to your teammate via the retreating loop, rather than making an attempt at forcing your way back to him towards the advancing Zombies.

Activate Traps to thin out the advance, but focus on covering your advance through the "retreating loop" as you make your way around, returning back towards your downed teammate.

The fatal flaw of most games is in the lack of tactical thinking when reviving downed teammates.

For "Downed" Teammates:

...DON'T be a wiggle worm. If you are trying to help by firing some combination of standard pistols (i.e. Magnum, Colt) or Ray Gun at Zombies, then fine, but moving around too much makes it very difficult to revive you. As a matter of fact, if you are downed without the use of a powerful handgun to actually help out, then move to some position where you can be helped.

If your Teammates cannot get to you immediately...

...Know where your teammates are going to emerge on the loop, and crawl your arse towards them. Doing this could make the difference between the few seconds of them getting to you in time, or you becoming a spectator. Be ready to cover your mates if they do get to you in time by using your Ray Gun or Magnum to take heat off of them.

Use your Bowie Knife to be an "Ankle Biter"

...You are downed-not dead, so use what you've got and let the Zombies pile up at your feet or become wounded enough so your Teammates can kill them that much easier as the Zombies pass by you.

I understand completely that if you have Revive you'll also have Akimbo, but this fact isn't an assurance that your teammates won't have to retreat away from you and run the survival loop in order to return and provide you with some aid...so make yourself useful in a tactical way. Don't get pissed if you are downed again, if anything, you'll have a buttload more ammo for the Akimbo Colts so you can do that much more damage to soften up the Zombie Wave and it gives your Mates a bit more time to get back to you. Do as much damage as you can, but if you don't have akimbo at this time, crawl in the reverse direction that your mates are running and close the gap between you and the on-coming help.

Also on the maps with the electric fence trap if you are downed you can crawl through it without it harming you in any way.

And last, but not least: Don't bother hollering out "I've got the Ray Gun, don't let me die!" If your teammates survive, you survive for the next round as well, so grab one of the numerous guns off the wall ASAP upon respawning and make due with what you've got.

I honestly hope some people read this because this pretty much covers everything. Also on the maps with the electric fence trap if you are downed you can crawl through it without it harming you in any way.

Update: I put these principals to work this past weekend, and encouraged the other Randoms to do so as well...it works! And for the ones who did not follow this little strategy...well, they got left behind.
