Now... many people will say that the FAL is definitely not better than the other guns, but I will disagree. With the extended mags attachment, I have been able to kill 3 people before they can even get a shot on me. The sights are just beautiful on this gun, and paired with practically no recoil, you get a very powerful and fun gun to use. The damage is extremely high, so you only need 3 shots at most for targets that are very far away. Up close, you only need 2 shots. I went 20-2 on Crisis (Ground War) with the FAL, where I usually go negative with a gun like the Famas or AK74u. I only had 1 kill with a killstreak, so I think the FAL is QUITE a strong choice, don't you guys think?
The m14's recoil is why it becomes useless when the FAL is unlocked.
Though not as good as it's MW2 counterpart (which featured the holographic sights glitch), it can still wreak havoc in the correct hands.
Obviously, it's downfall is close range firefights, but if you have this gun equipped you should be doing your best to avoid such situations anyways. The damn "gun jamming" feature that was added to deter turbo controllers pretty much dashes away the gun's ability to panic spray in those CQC moments.
The high damage, predictable recoil, good ammo capacity/manageability, and accuracy still make the FAL a great weapon for maps with longer sight lines or open areas. Basically, if you're accurate with your first 3 shots, you'll win most mid-range battles 1 on 1 (the 3rd shot being for the confirmation or second chance perk...)
If you were good with semi-automatic guns in any previous COD, you'll fair exactly the same with the FAL...
