You don't need to join someones session, I just tried to go online and I got that message, it tells you at the bottom without having to do anything.

I believe this is just common sense?? You wouldnt know you were banned unless you looked. And woo it also shows how long for

The point people are missing are that some are just getting "COD servers are not available" message (or something like that). It is not telling them that they are banned or for how long. So this is just a method to force the game to tell you. It is actually good info, thanks.
