Prematch? Do you mean like the pre-game lobby? It isn't based on your connection, sometimes you will go straight into a game, sometimes you won't.

I'm guessing it's pregame lobby that you're talking about. And there's no way to make yourself go into a pregame lobby. You can go into the game or go into a lobby or go into a game during host migration which it makes you sit there for ages. Developers need to fix this but you can only do what the game forces you to do.

Maybe he's on PC? Like not enough players in a game so then they have a "pre-match" where they play for fun until more people join in. It doesn't count against you if you die it's just something for you to do while waiting.

Pretty much you just have to play the game bro, theres no way to just jump in one.
