(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Alright, we all know in the very beginning we COULD NOT hear footsteps no matter how loud the volume was, supposedly a mess up on Treyarch's part. Thankfully they fixed it, and now we can here footsteps all fine and dandy right? Wrong? How so?
I got some Tritton Ax-702's over the weekend for Christmas, so I haven't been in the sound-whoring world for very long(great headset, recommend it), but I have been getting annoyed lately, almost to the point of going back to MW2, because it's rendering this headset useless. It seems to me that Treyarch put background noise in the game, just to disrupt sound-whoring. Now this may seem not likely, but doesn't sound far-off with how Treyarch has been lately. If you notice, on WMD you have the train, RIGHT by A site. If you ever plant there, be sure you aren't hearing ANYTHING BUT the train. You can hear it all the way on the other side of the map, and it is still loud, obnoxious, and most of all, blocks out the sounds of footsteps.
On Villa, we have all seen the lightning, right? Well did you guys know there was thunder? I didn't ever hear this until my headset. Literally the first game I play on Villa, I though my headset was defective, only to find out the thunder had the bass going in the headset. It's amazingly loud, and like the train, blocks out footsteps. Now I know the thunder only calls out every once in a while, and the train only comes by once, to my knowledge, hell, you could even say the rocket on Launch is just as annoying.
I ALSO notice the in-game music is REALLY annoying, which is why I like to have the option to mute it, because quite frankly, I don't want a solo played specifically for me when I'm the last one left if it is louder than anything else, even gun shots. Not to mention it puts you out of that "I'm going to clutch" trance. Kind of like when you're trying to fall asleep, you're halfway there, and then some random object makes a cracking noise, bringing your attention to it, making you restart the process. I KNOW I can clutch it, 3 v 1, 5 v 1, hell even 6 v 1 I have done at least once in my career of CoD, but when that music it rings out, it just DESTROYS the mood, and It's almost like I don't feel like playing Black Ops anymore.
These are the only 2(3 if you count Launch) maps that I notice, and disrupts my gameplay. I don't know if there are other "disruptive" noises on those maps besides the music, but I consciously notice those 2. Maybe when I play I get so into it that I don't notice the other ones? I want to experiment when I go on next time, to see if changing the audio settings from, Headset and Loud, to other options, such as maybe, TV speakers and quiet, changes anything, because HONESTLY, I believe those sounds were NOT that loud when it was going through the TV. Maybe it's the headset itsself, maybe not. Who knows?
Do you guys notice anything of this nature in any of the other maps? If Treyarch did this on purpose, shame on them, I can't believe that my $130 headset that I begged my dad into getting me is now rendered useless at the only moment I ever need it. It's unbelievably selfish. I don't know about you guys, but I think Treyarch made this game more for the casuals. No quickscoping, stopping power or juggernaught? No more use for a headset, and an option to play against computer controlled enemies. I honestly wanted to like this game, but at each corner I turn, it seems the more reality is setting in on me. Treyarch doesn't care.

You know you could turn down the Music Volume and the SFX volume when you press start and go to audio settings in the game.

HOLY CRAPOLA wall of text. Yeah, they are against sound whoring because I remember when I first started playing a lot of S&Awesome face, the music would start playing when I was the last alive and defending the bomb I just planted. The music was triggered by his proximity to me and the bomb site. The music covered up the sound of his footsteps.
