Is boosting in black ops fair or not?

So now that Black Ops has been available for a while, and even all the little kiddies got it for Christmas, I think its time to re-discuss everyone’s take on boosting. Some people have made it extremely clear and some will doubtlessly call this useless, however, I feel that people’s opinions change overtime, and I have decided to present arguments for both sides and let everyone reform there opinions. I ask you to go into this thread with an open mind and a mentality above that of a twelve year-old so you can make an informed decision about what you really believe is right.

Boosting = :y:
This video by CptSparklez discusses boosting in the way I view it (at least at the beginning); although some may see this as a deterrent for boosting, I personally believe this presents the main argument for boosting. You don’t have to watch the whole thing – just the beginning of it.

CptSparklez brings up the main point in favor of boosting in this video and that simply boils down to what people do in private is their own choice. Just like in anything, when you are in your own private setting, you have the right to do what you choose – so long as you are not forcing anyone to do something, or hurting someone. Boosting in a Private Lobby is justified (even though it may be a waste of time) because they are making a choice, they are doing it in private, and frankly it’s not ruining the game for anyone. A similar view can be applied to hacking – if it’s done in a private lobby and it's not tampering with a public lobby (it’s not affecting anyone’s gameplay against their will) it should be fair.

Boosting = :n:
These two videos are by far less famous youtubers (in fact I just searched “black ops boosting” in YouTube and these were two videos I found). They may not be super high quality but I think they express most people’s feelings despite them not being able to present any arguments against boosting.

[ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGMtLgagwX4]YouTube - Black Ops: Boosting Stops Here![/ame]

These two videos more or less represent everyone’s mentality about boosting. They are all “I HATE BOOSTING! BOOSTERS GO DIE! BAN ALL BOOSTERS!” While their claims of “bring down the banhammer” may be justified, they rarely present any arguments for their cause. The best three I can come up with are: boosting in a public match ruins games for the rest of us, boosting is unfair because they are higher levels than us even though they “cheated”, and boosters mess up the leader boards. Many people still see it as simply being wrong, and that is their choice.

My Opinion:

So this is simply my take on things, so please don’t hate on this, this is just what I think after having been presented with this information. I am personally pro-boosting. I believe that people have a right to boost: BUT ONLY IN PRIVATE LOBBIES! I have been in free-for-alls in MW2 where nuke-boosters really did ruin the game. When people get into their own private boosting lobby and the only people who are there are people who support boosting and have intention to boost, they should not be penalized. They are not really hurting anyone. It’s not really unfair that they’re a higher level or prestige because it really doesn’t affect their gameplay and how well they do, besides anyone can get into a boosting lobby, its not some sort of exclusive thing. The last argument against boosting is that it messes up the leader boards – while this may actually be true, I ask “Who cares about the leader boards?”

So, what’s your take? Tell me in a response!

Boosting & hacking is wrong , and although I've hacked and boosted before. There is no way you can justify boosting/hacking what we do on this website is sort of Morally wrong. And boosting does effect other players even if it is in a private lobby, It makes people associate the highest prestige and Gold Guns th Boosting/Hacking. Let me put it this way imagine if you spent months playing CoD getting to 15th Prestige & Earning Gold Guns. Just to get shit load of abuse off people in lobbies accusing you of Boosting.

Anyway I have nothing against Boosting/Hacking (I wouldn't be on this site if I did), I just think that trying to justify it is just stupid.

I basically couldn't of said it any better, the whole thing is wrong but I think thats why I like it so much. You can make excuses but no, its not justifiable. Certain people are do-gooders, some are opportunists, its about personal choice and I personally dont mind. I have almost become addicted to it..... lol

I wish they didn't come out with games so fast. I doubt at my current progression I'll get 15th in time before MW3 comes out. Just not enough hours per day.

Not hard math, with 2 hours a day, 24 hours a prestige it's about 160 real days.

LOL This is my counter argument, I have a REAL LIFE! I haven't got all day to play PS3 or whatever to level up in black ops to reach 15th prestige legit. I think too the only way to level up fully is to have no life...

I have nothing against boosting, especially if people have like 60+ KS because I know they will prolly end up getting reset. I boosted a sheit load in MW2 in cage matches but it's the stage where people start boosting in pub games that i get mad at and that's when boosting comes annoying for me because it ruins the match and lobby for the other 10/16 players in the lobby.

Absolutely, I don't know how people can do what they are doing.. I see a lot of people who need some sun.

play hq man, will take a lot less time to prestige.

i got reset from 14th though and don't plan on prestiging anymore. You don't really get anything but gold camo and that makes you stand out on ALL maps and results in more deaths then necessary.
