Lets throw my two cents in to this since it will be useful for some people debating on whether or not to take the L96A1 from the box.
Well, as we all have known... Its powerful even without pack a punch.
For a quickscoper from CoD4 through to Black Ops, I recommend it.
In case I get trapped, I always carry either a PaP'd automatic gun or thundergun. Never the ray gun. The ray gun appears in the box, I just wait for it to pass.
I play Solo since I get the feel of the game more. XLink Kai with 3 of my friends if I am ever bored though. On Solo, if you can maneuver around the map quickly, use it. That is the only suggestion here unless you are completely oblivious about the map. With other players, use it to your advantage.
My 4-person plan on XLink Kai (since I'm banned on my main PS3) Kino Der Toten
1 person runs with the zombies
We set up checkpoints for each one of us. When a checkpoint comes up, the person at the check point loads all fire power in to them and gets the zombies after him so the other person can go do what he wants and waits for his check point to be passed up.
I usually go in the middle of the theater because they run every way throughout the map. From this perspective, you would think I would use an automatic gun to pull aggro (check the term, I'm a WoW player) from the players running around so it doesn't collect with a checkpoint. The L96 stops the zombies from going anywhere. I can sit up on the balcony and jump shot them or I can sit in the middle of the theater and only get like 1-2 hits on me from the zombies only out of carelessness. If I ever get held up, I use the thunder gun or PaP'd gun to my advantage. If they swarm me from the 2 points, that is when I have to clear the way unless it is a minor outbreak. A minor outbreak with a PaP'd L96 is insane. Quads all over the place when I run with it. Acquire with monkey bombs, you get quints.
Good luck, and have fun. I may some day post a solo guide to Kino.
