I thought this might come in useful as i see a lot of post asking for someone to edit there videos because they don't know how to use Sony Vegas or know where to start.
If there is anything you think i have missed out on please let me know and i will update the information
[multipage=Choosing the Right clips ]
Clip Choice
This is vital for a good montage there is nothing more off putting than seeing a montage with just 1 kill between transitions it makes you look like a rubbish player and the montage will fail :sleep:, try to use at least a 3 kill feed + to make your montage more impressive obviously if you have a 1080 no scope triple headshot than put it in just make sure a majority of the edit is clutch kills (3+)
Cinematic's (scenery clips) are not essential but can come in handy to split up kills and create more of an atmosphere to make your montage look more dynamic and professional its pleasing to the eye if done right
[multipage=Choosing the Song ]
Song Choice
When wondering what song to choose just keep this in mind- you will be listening to it over and over again while editing so make sure you are inspired by it don't just choose a song that you think everyone likes, choose one you like it will show in your montage.
Sometimes trolling YouTube listening to random songs that no one has used can be a good idea, here is a YouTube downloader that i use if you need one: You must login or register to view this content.
[multipage=Syncing your Song with your Montage ]
Beat Syncing
When i see a montage and its just clips that have been edited and chucked over a song willy nilly it gives the impression that no effort has gone into your work even though you may have spent hours editing your video. Syncing to your song makes a huge difference to the final outcome and really makes it look all that more better
Here is a tutorial if your scratching your head wondering how to do it:
[multipage=Effects ]
Effects
Ok so i see videos with millions of effects in and i just can't work out work out what im ment to be watching, flashing lights, blur and transitions chucked in at every opportunity come on guys this is not good to watch here is a list of Do's and Don'ts
Don't
Over edit your video we want to see the kills clearly
Use slowmotion like its only just come out and your trying to recreate the scene out of terminator when he drops the roses and pulls out his shotgun (such a good scene)
Overkill the flashing in your video yes it might be synced but its a game montage not a german trance music video
Use transitions after every kill be creative
Use predator aimbot symbols they've been done and the rest are copies and unoriginal
Do
Use effects in moderation done at the right time makes the difference from average to awesome
Transition between your clips or fade out and into the next, if you can, make your own transitions
Experiment there are lots of effects you can do in Sony Vegas
Make use of colour correction if you want your montage to be vibrant and stand out
Here are some effect tutorials i found useful credit goes to RocketRossUK (sub his channel):
ADDING EFFECTS IN SONY VEGAS
JIGSAW EFFECT
PLE EFFECT
COLOUR CORRECTION
WEAPON MASKING
SUPER SLO MO EFFECT
I hope this tutorial was useful to you and again let me know if i have missed out anything
