What are Events?
Events are official competitions that Call of Duty Elite members can participate in for Badges and prizes. There are a large variety of Event types, ranging from sweepstakes to media and content competitions.

What are Operations?
Operations are one-time competitions where members can join and compete against each other for Badges and prizes. While you might not play directly against one another, the total score for the in-game statistics (Most Kills, Most Bomb Plants, etc.) within a stated period of time determines which players are winners. Operations take place in a variety of game modes. A leaderboard displays everyone’s ranking at the end of the Operation.

How do I join?
To enlist in an Event or Operation, select Enlist Now on the overview page. Depending on the Event type, you may have to write a message, attach media, or agree to Terms & Conditions before you are enlisted.

Why is everyone posting so much info about COD Elite now, the Beta has been going on for like 2 months.

being honest, even COD Elite wont get me to play black ops again, zombies = ok.. but multiplayer sucks.. bad.
COD Elite will be good for mw3 but not black ops.. for me anyway

To me i just see boosters winning these events.
even with elite letting moderators check the previous games some people will still find ways of boosting it

Also does it give you a set amount of games to do it in?
because its unfair if some shit guy plays 24 hours compared to someone who is beast but only plays a couple hours?

You get a set amount of time, like get the most flag captures within 3 hours

But there stats will show in the leaderboard for that event

There stats will show up but some people could be clever enough to boost in a secretive way and make it not obvious there boosting and look like a regular match :p
