Hey everyone, if your looking for some help with Dead Ops Arcade, you've come to the right place. The following strategy guide will help you through some of the more challenging levels and hopefully help clear up some confusion you may have about the game. If your stuck on a particular level, please feel free to post and I'll try to give you some advice specific to your problems. This guide is a long read, but if your interested in beating the cosmic gorilla, its going to take around 1 1/2 to 2 hours, so patience is required for both.

Zombie Arcade Walk-through
Weapons, Power-ups, Room Of Fate, Level 1-40 tips
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weapons

Death Machine: Zombie lawnmower. This gun will rip through lines of zombies in nothing flat. Be careful where you point it though, the bullets are powerful and will push your teammates around, possibly getting them killed

Shotgun: Oh' Lawdy dotty look who's got the shotty!!! Go to town with this gun, it just rules

Ray Gun: Powerful weapon against the zombies; The trade off is accuracy and visibility. Whenever a ray gun bullet fails to hit a zombie, it will bounce off of a wall several times. Since the ray gun is automatic, it doesn't take long to fill up the screen with little green bullets. Another downside to missing with the ray gun is that some of the bullets can strike your teammate and impede their movement, causing them to be killed by zombies or be pushed into a electric pole. Try firing in a straight line with the right joystick, and moving side to side with the left joystick. When zombie dogs are introduced, you need to be careful picking this weapon up because the dogs are very shifty and hard to hit.

China Lake: It'll get the job done, just make sure you don't blind your teammates or yourself with it. The fire rate is slow, so try backing up just a bit between shots. This will take care of any zombies that might have gotten through the volley. Be careful of crawlers and dogs. Crawlers can slip past the china lake even if your backing up, and dogs can run fast enough to get through. The diminished visibility means dogs can get through unseen as well.

Rocket Launcher: This is a big no-no except under very specific conditions. The rocket launcher is hard to accurately kill zombies with. If you happen to hit your teammate with a shot, you will launch them to the other side of the map and will almost certainly get them killed. As with the ray gun, try moving side to side while shooting this weapon.

Flamethrower: Zombies hit with the flamethrower will walk slowly, and if your staying at one door its not a horrible weapon. However, it kills kinda slow, and in later stages it just doesn't cut it. The main problem with the flamethrower is visibility. If your spraying it everywhere, the flamethrower will blind you and all of your teammates. So don't spin around in circles, thinking your going to kill every zombie and save the day... your no hero, your just being an ass
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Power-ups

Extra Life: This extra life is actually 1 life/player. If your playing with 4 people, it's one life a man (4 Lives)... Kinda important. Dont ever let one of these go to waste. This is the one power-up worth dying for. If 1 guy dies getting it, he still gains 3 lives for the team.

Turrets: An automated turret drops down to help fight off zombies

Monkey Bombs: These will draw zombies in the immediate area to it. Try standing next to one of these; when your just about to be killed, pick it up and watch your attackers break off towards the monkey. Zombie Dogs are not attracted to the monkey bomb.

Birds: These guys will fly above you and fire a line of bullets wherever your firing. They last for a limited time, and when they disappear they will fire one last time in a circular patten. The bird will fire whatever type of ammunition your carrying at the time, so it can be a devastating partner. Try taking a step forward or back if your having trouble concentrating your fire, this will line the bird up directly over your shoulder and he will shoot almost the same spot as you.

Speed boots: If speed is your thing, go for it. Careful not to get too anxious when you get the boots, you might run into a trap.

Teddy Bear: This will create a glowing blue force-field around your player. This is NOT impenetrable. Raining zombies/crawlers/running zombies may be temporarily stunned by it; your run of the mill small zombie will be repelled by it. This forcefield will send the small zombies running back to their point of origin. (whatever door that particular zombie came out of is the door he will return to. If you interrupt that path of a zombie returning to his door, he will attack you

***Because of the chaos that can occur when zombies strike the forcefield, this powerup is not a good idea to pick up. You and your teammates develop a groove over time and this powerup will instantly disrupt that groove***

Barrels: Very straight forward power-up. Hit them with the barrels, and they will die. Time it wrong, and a zombie can get through

Wunderwaffle Beads: Just like the World at War wunderwaffle, these beads will kill multiple zombie at once. If one zombie is struck by a bead, 5-10 zombies next to him will die as well. 4 beads per power-up and it gets harder to hit them with it the less beads there are

Tank: Invulnerable to damage, this tank will only last for a limited time so go to town while you can. Zombies will be more attracted to this tank than your teammate so try to use that to your advantage. Note: it will be difficult for your teammates to see if your just flailing about, so try to keep it under control and have your team in mind. Running into your teammates with the tank may stop them from escaping. Running full speed into a teammate who is against a wall mall result in their death.

Helicopter: Jackpot. Its lean, it mean, it absolutely annihilates any zombie on the map. This baby can turn on a dime. If you happen to have a bird on your shoulder, the bird will fire ray guns with you. Same with the tank, try to have your team in mind when your using this thing; Zombies can't kill you so help others out at this point. Try parking the helicopter on one door (with zombies), and firing it at another door with zombies. This will provide your team with a much needed break.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Rules:
1. Never use your bombs or lightning unless you have to

2. Avoid the rocket launcher and flame thrower. Rockets shoot your teammates into hoards of zombies and flamethrowers make it impossible for anyone to see

3. Treasure= Multiplier ---- Multiplier=Pts ---- Pts= Extra Lives
Extra life every 200,000 pts

4. NEVER leave the end of the round till all treasure has been collected!!!

5. If your team has gone far because of one teammate, its because they are supplying extra lives. If your start dying every round, give them all the treasure on the map. Their treasure= extra lives= You can steal more lives

6. Gems are worth more than gold or silver. A large gem is worth a full multiplier. Since it takes more treasure to go from x3 to x4 than x2 to x3, the person with the highest multiplier should get the large gems in most cases (unless everyone is just out to get their's)

7. You can kill the ape in round 40 only. The glowing red circle around him indicates he is invincible, much like the glowing circle around a player when they are invincible. Before round 40, you can't kill him, so don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise

8. With the exception of an extra life, NO power-up is worth dying for... you were doing fine before you went for it, now your dead (counterproductive)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Room Of Fate:

Firepower: - Permanent Death Machine

* The death machine is the most powerful gun to have; it also comes with the most responsibility. You must be able to stagger your fire if teammates cross in front of you. If you cannot adapt, you WILL end up stopping them from backing up, shooting them into zombies, or shooting them into traps. You will also be responsible for helping kill the dogs. The death machine can level a dog in just a few bullets, the little pea-shooters your teammates have will have them backing up halfway across the map.

Friendship: - Permanent Bird
------------------ Any bird picked up off the map lasts longer

* Be careful where your bird is shooting, you now have twice the firepower and could easily stop your teammate from retreating, or shooting them into zombies or a trap

Furious Feet: - Permanent speed upgrade
----------------------If players run out of lightning, they will start with 3 at the start of the next round

* Your main responsibility is to corral the zombies. What this means is you need to sprint in and out of zombie lines in order to cut them in half. If there are 50 zombies coming out of one door towards your teammate, run up after the 25th has come out of the door and the last 25 will follow you. This is critical later on because zombie rounds will last for 8-10 minutes and you will need to save all the bombs/lightnings you can.

Fortune and Fortitude: - If a player dies, they will come back with a minimum x2 multiplier
----------------------------------Any power-up on the map lasts longer (except monkey bombs and turrets)

*Though considered the weakest by many, this perk may be the best for later stages where a helicopter/tank may last most of the round and allow you to save your bombs/lightning. Teams should always save helicopters/bombs/barrels/teddy bears for you. They will last the longest with you and you could really use the break, cause without it, fortune can really suck.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stage 1: The Beach Lvl.1-4

Never under any circumstances should you have to use your right or left triggers here. Beginners may be drawn to the weapon power-ups, but seasoned vets know that the treasure is the real goal here
Avoid standing at the very top of the screen, it moves the screen view up to high and may result in a teammates death

Stage 2: The Courtyard Lvl. 5-8

Overall area has decreased so you'll be in tighter quarters here.
- Avoid standing right in front of doorways.
- Zombie traps are introduced... You might hate them now, but there your best friend later on.
- Get used to the idea of standing behind/ backing up and around these traps. Later on it will critical to be able to lure zombies into the traps without touching them yourselves.
-

Stage 3: The Prison
Lvl. 9-12
- Although stairs are a zombie staple on other maps, this is not the case here. Players who go upstairs have 2 ways out, and those get choked with zombies quicker than you expect.
- Ground level should suffice as long as your quick on your feet

Stage 4: Crawlers Lvl. 13-16

Hands down everyone's favorite round..right. Best tip is to stop focusing on power-ups and flee for your life. Zombie crawlers can only be killed when they jump up to attack you, so if you've already hit a few laps around the map and are wondering why he hasn't died yet it's because he has not yet jumped

- Try and look down directly at your character, it will help your focus

- AVOISad Awesome Doorway and corners!!! Zombies can come out of a doorway and IMMEDIATELY kill you. Corners may be your only option but your guaranteed to need to use your Triggers here

Stage 5: Cows Lvl. 17-20

These short 4 rounds may be the most important if you expect to go far... Often times even pro's get killed by the crawler rounds and their multipliers have suffered.

Fear not because the designers have your saving grace; Cows. That's right, cows. Specifically a glowing cow... If your lucky enough to see one of these cows, and your also lucky enough to have an explosive weapon (China lake, Rocket Launcher, Tank, or Helicopter) shoot one of these cows. Then you will realize why they are called cash cows, as tons and tons of valuable gems spill out of them.

(NOTE: If you want this treasure to mean something, kill all the zombie before you collect it; there is way too much clutter on the screen at this point and going for the treasure right away often results in death)

Teamwork is essential on this map, remind your teammates about the cow each round, and only pick up explosive weapons if you see the cow or if the weapon is about to disappear. If you pick up the rocket or the china lake and, if you can manage, try not to shoot the weapon till you need to because it will deplete your ammunition quickly

Stage 6: Falling Zombies
Lvl. 21-24
Round one starts off on a 2-tier level, where players may stay in the courtyard or choose to go upstairs, either way your in for a fight. Try and stand behind zombie traps to lure one column of zombies in while you shoot the other column.Stay in groups of 2 or stay separated because zombies will pour in on this map, and mistakes are common in large groups.

Round two has a surprise waiting; Zombie rain!! Zombies will fall periodically from the sky, often blocking your planned route of escape. Try not to panic, and target the falling zombies first. They will walk slowly at first, but after a few seconds they will RUN straight at you.

Stage 7: Fish in a Barrel Lvl. 25-28

Hope you saved a few lighting for this round because your going to need it. Screen placement and player movement are critical here. Right off the bat, explosive barrels will start pouring in from randoms spots on the screen. Although it is very rare for these barrels to kill you directly, they often indirectly kill you by stopping you from moving away from zombies. These barrels do serve a purpose other than your early grave. If you can time it right, shoot the barrels as zombies pass and they will explode, killing those zombies in range of the explosion.

Stage 8: Big Boys Lvl. 29-32

Stage one starts off fairly simple, nothing new except your surroundings. Avoid going between the two gas containers or behind the wall at the top/bottom of the map; zombies will often block your route of escape if you head down that path

Stage two is a different matter. They let out a horrific scream before you see them... All of a sudden, huge (EXPLOSIVE) zombies are heading your way. Usually you'll have 2 or 3 to kill at a time. Don't hit them with the barrels or the wunderwaffle beads, they will explode right there and kill you. Use these zombies to your advantage and kill them first so they take their smaller zombie brothers with them

Stage 9: Woof, Woof Lvl. 33-36

Round one has normal zombies; save your bombs, run like hell

Round two... DOGS!!! My most hated enemy. They are quick, they are sneaky, and they just plain suck.
Lighting may get you out of trouble from one dog, but it will often throw you in the corner with another. Bombs are the best weapon here. Very few zombies spawn on this round. Try standing behind a trap if you can, and stay with your team at all cost.

Round three: You might have noticed the pattern by now, Rnd1 normal, Rnd2 new zombie, Rnd3 normal + new zombie mixed in. Until now this was fairly straightforward. At this point however, the game has changed entirely. The dogs will spawn every round now, though fewer in number, they are arguably more dangerous now. Things may seem like their going fine, when all of a sudden a dog leaps out ahead of a pack of zombies and bites your face off. Focus you attention to the zombie spawns cause you need the heads up if a dog is coming

Stage 10: MONKEY Lvl. 37-40

The game is very much the same as the stage before, but the map is much smaller. You need to be able to manipulate the zombie lines as a team if you hope to survive. The maps can be as small as the courtyard from Stage 2, so there is very little room to work with. Zombie traps and your triggers are all that will save you.

Round 4: Its monkey time; After you finish off the zombies, the screen will notify you of a boss round. That annoying, irritating ape stealing your treasure the whole game has come for you blood, and its finally time to send him crying home to mommy. The boss will race towards you in speed burst. Zombies spawn the entire time so you have that to worry about as well. During the fight, several tanks and helicopters may spawn; If that happens, lead the boss to a zombie trap and sit on it for as long as possible, he will get severely damaged by the traps. This seems to be the quickest, and easiest route to his demise.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it!!! After 40 rounds of hell, you've finally killed the monkey. An animation follows showing your conquest over the ape, followed very shortly by his brother smacking you onto another island. Just when you thought it was over, your right back on the beach you started on, except this time their are tons and tons of zombies.

Thanks for reading and I hope this answers some of your questions about Dead Ops Arcade!

Great post, thanks.. Lots of useful information especially about the gems, multipliers and how or who should use them. I love playing DOA, and think it's maybe a little underated by most.

I've only played it solo or co-op with my misses and we managed lvl 23 I think, but it was a blast getting there Smile
