Take an ethernet cord and but the covering off to reveal the wires inside. Take the orange wire and snip it. Put any kind of switch between those two wires thus connecting and disconnecting them whenever you need. This should work for you. Sometimes mine will not work when hardwired through my router. I have to connect it directly to the wall to work. If it isnt working correctly there is a thread here on ngu that will give you a different wire to use instead of the orange.
