(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I want to give a look at the current damage situation in ghosts and what i would like to be changed / added to the game in order to give a part of the player based more options.

If you understand the insta-death of ghost, please skip to my solution.

Issue
What I believe the issue is, currently in ghost's guns are doing extreme amounts of damage, this has lead to guns that kill in 2 shots most of the time.
Now some of you will think this is good as it is quote "realistic" but the problem that then arises from this is quiet affective in ruining game play.

What this means...
So what does this mean, well if you know basic stat's you will see that most guns will do X amount of damage in N amount of time (Fire Rate) and basically when you put these together you get the TTK (Time To Kill), this is basically the amount of time that a gun can kill in if you hit every shot form pressing the trigger. With the guns in this game being so powerful almost all guns now kill in less than 0.150 MS.
Now what does this actually mean, well with the current connections that we have with the internet there is an amount of time for connections to work from 1 point to another point, this is known as ping and with ping this can cause certain players to not get information as soon as it happens, this delay is normal around 150 MS for the average person.

So you can see how this is going now can't you, with the current game stance you can die before even seeing or realising that you are getting shot and this greats balance problems.

My Solution
What i would like to see is quiet simple, a reduction in damage / an increase of health by 300%.
I personally believe that by having everything weaker it creates a better balance between connection and skill, and also makes guns and skill more diverse as you need to be a better shot in order to make sure that your bullets count instead of just spraying and hope for 2 hits.

I would like for a new set of modes know as SoftCore(see what i did, opposite of hardcore) where just like hardcore its a separate set of game modes that instead of increasing damage they reduce it, this will allow people who wish to have a more skill based/ slower death games can and not have to bother people who like the fast killing.

The Anthem
A damage reduction or an increase of health by %300 percent would mean that the devs would have to re-evaluate a lot of things. Gun damage, logistics of vests, Riley damage, and so much more. Guns do kill fast in this game. Touch football mode has just stayed about the same as in BTK and in most cases, OSK.

The MSBS does have a crazy TTK. However, that's just at it's 2HK range. The FAD has a maximum of 4 BTK but the fastest fire rate of the ARs (excluding the ARX because it sucks). Heck, even the MTAR has a maximum of 4 BTK.

Okay, we're just hypothetically speaking as if every player had 100% accuracy which we all don't.

Also, I like how you mentioned frame rates and such. However there's a synchronization issue. There's latency between the firetime and framerate which gives you a longer firetime and framerate. Consoles are locked at 60 FPS.

You're looking at this problem like it's one thing causing it the reality is couple things mixed together.
Super fast TTKs/matchmaking/latency/synchronization issue

TTKs 100Ms + 200Ms delay = 300Ms
Or you could have died 3 times over during that time Smile
People wonder why a defensive playstyle is so powerful when you die so quickly mixed with a delay.

Super fast TTKs people low because no effort needed or real skill whoever see who first wins. But it causes massive networking issues due to how fast you die.

Matchamking you join a lobby you have a 5ms ping to the host, say everybody else has a 300ms ping to 900ms ping. The game has to request data from all clients and smooth that out. That's a tall order when so much delay at play as a result some strange things can happen. Deaths around corners by that lagging guy even if you have a 5ms ping. In other words it messes up the whole lobby not just you.

Latency of any sort of data always a pain, always going to happen sadly.

Synchronization issue note what I said the game does try but it very hard thing to pull off.


So how to fix these problems?
Increase the TTKs say to 250Ms as a average
Matchmaking lower the number of playlists (hate to say that but would help) cuts up the player base. Improve the matchmaking so it pairs people based on ping over geolocation more.
Lock the game so players with a ping of over 200ms can't join any lobbies
Increase the game updates per seconds should help with the syns 30 per second too low should be near 100.

Your idea you would need to increase the movement speeds/ADS speeds along with damage/health on a couple things. I would like it to be that simple but it won't be.

The guns kill quick but I don't think reducing damage AND increasing health by 300% is such a good idea. As was mentioned there are other issues that come into play after doing this. Besides doing that would just lead to more complaints in regards to guns taking too long to kill, more complaints about getting the first shot off yet still dying first as well as a propensity for people to use less guns and gravitate towards more powerful weapons.

The idea of making gun fights more about skill is very subjective. Mostly because a lot of people have no awareness about how bad of a shot they are and every death they have is explained by a camper, lag or a gun being overpowered and although you tried to make this eloquent it still comes off as, "if the guns weren't so OP, these no skill camping noobs wouldn't kill me." Not saying that there aren't some bullshit deaths(mostly random frag grenade tosses) but most COD players generally aren't objective enough to be reasonable and accept deaths. Hell most rant threads or threads like this coming directly after having a bad game even though you may get back on hours later and dominate and not even care about weapon damage as it works in your favor...

You also have to take into account doing that would make pistols and shotguns even more at a disadvantage/terrible than they already are not to mention sniper rifles having a lot less damage.
