i think he meant software to use as proxy thing and patch blocker are pc apps, i had the same problem.. i solved this by installing boot camp (long but worth it in the end)
doing the whole partion thing and installed an old copy of xp so my mac dual boots xp or snow lep.. could try paralells but im not sure if the proxy would run through it the same way, crossover and wine will not work.. hope it was of some use to you..

london what download of boot camp did you use?
