Yeah, your connection was severed and your buddy joined mosh pit not domination. Your connection screwed up and you couldn't find anyone else.

He didn't join mosh pit it was the domination playlist, my connection has been kinda shit at the moment though.

Weird, I know the only gamemode in which 12 player ffa is possible in is in mosh pit. It's almost always on rust too. I have a brother who plays mosh pit the whole time (idk why lol) Maybe the ports on your router switched randomly or something.. Who knows?
