Introduction

I'm getting incredibly sick of people using the UMP45 - everyone uses it, and now I'm annoyed. So I decided to write this MP5 guide as.. say an anti-UMP guide at the same time. This will probably be my most in-depth/detailed guide yet, so I hope you don't put my efforts amiss and just throw critism at me. But more to the point, hope it helps, and enjoy guys.

Basically, the MP5k is probably the best close range weapon in the game, with a high damage correlating with a high rate of fire, it's a deadly close quarters weapon. But, the recoil on the MP5k tends to put people off, but in this guide I hope to get you to conquer that, and become a god of the gun!

[multipage=Statistics]

Statistics

There are several pros of the MP5k, and obviously, as with every gun, there are several cons too. The pros would be, the fact that the gun is very good looking is always a good factor. However, the looks of the gun do not enable you to use it well, and it also comes with a very high DPS (damage per second), the close range abilities are sexy, and it is in my opinion, the best rushing weapon.

Now, unfortunately we must get down to some numbers, so brace yourselves.

Base Damage: 40-20

Damage multipliers
Head - 1.4 (56-2Cool Man (aka Tustin)
Chest - 1 (40-20)
Body - 1 (40 20)
Limbs - 1 (40-20)

With Stopping Power
Head - 78.4-39.2
Chest - 56-28
Body - 56-28
Limbs - 56-28

Fire rate: 850 RPM
Reload time: 2.54 seconds
Empty time: 3.3 seconds
Add time: 1.77
Sight time: .2 seconds
Raise time: .85 seconds
Drop time: .5 seconds

As you can see, stopping power does have a formidable deal of improvement on the gun, and is a recommended perk to use, this will later be explained in the 'perks' section.

[multipage=Attachments]

Attachments

I don't want to spend hours wittering on about the attachments that suck, so I will basically be giving a brief description of each one. Please note this is my opinion, although looking at the usage of the gun online, my views are strongly reflected of those using the gun online.

The beloved red dot sight, if you aren't good with the iron sights on the MP5k (personally I don't know how you can't be good with them) use the red dot sight, you all know what it does, you all know how it helps, so yeah.

A variant of the red dot sight, several rumours/myths say it adds to damage/zoom, believe what you want, I think its pointless - just another dot in my opinion.

Does not increase damage. This attachment only helps through walls, although when put into affect, the benefits are obvious.

My personal favourite - due to the fact the MP5k rips through ammo, you will often find this attachment gets you the 1/2 extra kills in a burst of a rush. You will need this more than the other attachments.

My opinion as far as the silencer is concerned is, only use it if you are stealthing, it cuts the MP5k's damage a lot, strangely. Almost fundamental if stealthing, though.

If you use this, I don't really know what to say to you. It makes the guns recoil worse in the sense it moves from left to right more, and it makes it go up and down more than a prostitute on a £100 fare.

Have some sense. Just, no. In every aspect, no.

[multipage=Perks]

Perks

You can use a good variety of perks with the MP5k, all utilising different abilities.

Marathon

The MP5k is a CQ weapon, it cannot be used to pick people off from long/medium ranges, thus rushing is almost fundamental, hence making marathon almost fundamental.

Scavenger

Scavenger isn't necessary unless you really do burn through ammo. If you are rushing/stealthing I wouldn't reccommend scavenger, but this perk is down to opinion.

Sleight of Hand

As you seen in the statistics section, the MP5k has a very quick ADS time, and a better reload time than most guns - basically defeating all purpose of using this perk.

Bling

Although extended mags and FMJ do go disturbingly well together, I think you could pick a better perk than bling, although again, this is down to opinion.

Lightweight

Basically the same reasoning as marathon, the ultimate rushing perk, adds 7% to your movement speed, epic.

Stopping Power

Not as reccommended as lightweight, although stopping power can benefit this gun. Put this perk together with Akimbo MP5k and steady aim, and let the rage quitting commence.

Cold-Blooded

Only use this if you are stealthing, not really benefitial for anything else.

Danger Close

This is a funny old one, because the pro version of this perk (extra killstreak damage) can be very benefitial, if you can manage to use the MP5k with this perk. Practice, see it work.

Steady Aim

Accurate enough from the hip, in my opinion this is a waste of your perk 3.

Commando

As much as I hate the perk it reaps benefits, if you reload suddenly, the increased knife distance is often epic. Also the pro effect (no falling damage) is useful when rushing.

Ninja

Ninja is a great all-round perk, you can be stealthing and rushing at the same time with it. Also the occasional HBS user will be tripped up by this, with a potential extra kill for you.

Scrambler

Gay magnet? I think so. Don't use scrambler, if anything it kills you more than it saves you.

SitRep

Mostly opinionated, if you want louder footsteps, use it. If you can't run straight past a claymore, use it. Otherwise, don't.

[multipage=Tactics]

Tactics

Using the MP5k the RIGHT way;
How often do people complain about the recoil on this gun? Potentially the reason why hardly anyone uses it. However, it is very easy to overcome the recoil, simply aim for the chest/hips and if you get took over by the recoil - it shouldn't be a problem, as they will most likely be dead by the time head height has been exceeded.
An alternative would be to dropshot, when laying prone your recoil will be minimised.

Rushing;
Epic rushing weapon. The monumental close range damage makes rushing the most viable choice for the MP5k - perks to use would be, Marathon, Lightweight, Ninja. With marathon and lightweight, you can fizz around the map, killing people in no time, ninja helps the cause by making your footsteps unheard. After you kill someone - move on.

Stealthing;
Stealthing also works great with the MP5k - simply put your perk setup as Marathon, Cold-Blooded, Ninja. You will also need to attach the silencer, for the invisibility when firing and reduced muzzle flash. This attachment works great with Cold-Blooded.
Do not camp when stealthing - the enemy will eventually take you out if you do not keep mobile.

[multipage=Map Ratings]

Map Ratings

Afghan: *

Worst SMG map on MW2, when you try to rush from a distance - you get took down. AR/Sniper heaven. When you try to stealth you tend to get killed by one camper.

Bailout: **

The line of sight is too great, this map is more suited for AR's.

Crash: ***

The buildings make this map a good MP5k choice. Refrain from moving in the open though, there will be AR campers.

Derail: ***

Rushing round the outskirts of Derail and then making your way gradually to the center buildings tends to work, good MP5k choice.

Estate: **

Majority of the time this map is a campfest, however sometimes the MP5k suits it well.

Favela: *****

Stick to the ground. A lot of flank methods, ways to pop into cover and offload on an enemy - great SMG map.

Highrise: ***

If you stick to the buildings at either end of the map, constantly flushing out enemies - the MP5k will destroy this map. Do not walk into the open, however.

Invasion: ****

Again, plenty of buildings, just stay out of the open, as the AR campers will strike.

Karachi: ***

Stick to the ground/low levels of Karachi, as there are a lot of those damn AR campers again, high ground will get you killed.

Overgrown: ****

Multiple flank routes, very good map for MP5k. Also many buildings for temporary cover.

Quarry: *

Huge lines of sight, lack of CQB areas, not good.

Rundown: ***

Rush at the start of the game, as the game progresses, take to the flank routes, and you'll do just fine.

Rust: *****

Have a guess?

Salvage: *****

Plenty of cover, plenty of flank routes, plenty of CQB areas, epic.

Storm: ****

Rush in this map and you will do okay, pretty large ammounts of close quarter battles. Good map.

Scrapyard: *****

Minimal cover, and vast CQB areas. This gives the MP5k the edge over those AR campers.

Skidrow: **

Stick to lower levels again, higher levels are vastly populated with the, have a guess, AR campers.

Sub Base: *

Huge lines of sight - AR heaven, sadly, not MP5k heaven.

Terminal: *

As above.

Underpass: ****

Stealth is basically essential, snipers will pick you off otherwise.

Wasteland: *

God help you if you can't work this one out.

[multipage=Conclusion]

This guide took me.. um, AGES. So don't give me the copy and paste business please. As far as sources go, I believe I got the damage statistics from the Call of Duty wiki, I can't get those myself, unfortunately. Pleas leave feedback, as always thanks/noms are welcome!
