as we all know if you try to sign in to PSN now you cant because "Playstation Network is currently undergoing maintenance" so is this Sony try to clear the infection on mw2 or maybe a patch on hard drive to stop future hacks on the system and other games

Apparently the server maintenance is something to do with..
Co-inciding with the maintenance period's proximity to E3, there have been rumors regarding the introduction of a premium service for PlayStation 3 users, similar to the Xbox 360's Gold membership. It would add extra paid-for features on top of the matchmaking and messaging service already available for free and, if true, would be part of Sony's presentation on June 15.

Of course they can't patch the infections - that is Infinity Ward's job.
Also speed and unlimited sprint is the only common hack and mostly used in private matches, only effecting users who have joined. Until someone releases the most exploitative hack will Infinity Ward patch these infectious hacks.
