Post: Comparing Images In Order To Find Dummy Sector
07-01-2010, 07:47 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); It is frustrating me now lol. I have both of the images one called 'MasterImage_To_Encrypt_4.30.bin' and one called 'MasterImage+Dummy_To_Decrypt_4.30.bin' Instead of using WinHex i have used Neo to compare the 2 images as it is easier this way. After comparing them both i dont know what data to use and what to select in neo. Below is a pic:
What do i want to select in here:

Then what do i look for and in what file do i look for it? Also is there an easier way to get to the beggining of a piece of data. For example if i want to get to the beggining of Matched Data in MasterImage+Dummy_To_Decrypt_4.30.bin is there an easy way because there are tons of lines and i am finding it hard to find the beggining of certain data in order to even attempt to get the 16 bytes (first 32 letters and numbers) needed to put in PS3 HDD Studio.

Thanks Ben.

Climbing up the ladder
choose differente blocks then on the bottom of screen it shows another table of different and matched! scroll to the bottom of this to see unrecognised in red and the file size will be size of your dummy?? its the first line of your red block which is the 16byte dummy,
hope this helps

ps thos only works on FAT PS3`S

Thanks RJP_uk. This has helped. but when i compare the .bin images. In which image should the unfound data be. You are correct saying that it is at the bottom but when i took the first 16 bytes of the red bit which is the unfound data and put it in ps3 HDD studion the .bin file that it created is no where near the size of the dummy file. Take a look at what data i have used and extracted with HDD Studio below:

Any help is appreciated.

Hmm umm HDD Studoi shuldnt give u a .bin. It shuld only give u a partlogs-DummyData.txt? if im correct.
Well i definently have the 16 bytes correct. Just try entering the 16 bytes in HDD studio and dont tick the BOX where u select u want to save ur partlogs-dummydata.txt. Then just continue on and see if u get stuck.

+REP if i helped
