Post: MW2 - FastFile [Tutorial] / Need Decryption first!

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This is Cod4, but this works with MW2, Cod5 too! But you need HDD Decryption with FW under 3.30

1st step:
IW added an additional file header to the ff-files (12-bytes: 49 57 66 66 75 31 30 30 05 00 00 00) and you need to remove it first before you can decompress the file.

2nd step:

After removing the header, your file should begin with 78, the header for Zlib with max./best compression. Store the file (don’t overwrite your sourcefiles, always create backupfiles first) in the folder where the ff_iw.exe is located. Open or create the decompress.bat or anything like that, use the command “ff_iw –d NAME_OF_THE_FF-SOURCEFILE NAME_OF_THE_NEW_GENERATED_FILE” in it and run the bat-file.

3rd step:
Now you will find a decompressed file in your folder. You can open this file with the Hex-Editor and do with it whatever you want. You can rip content, edit content or just check the files included for an overview.

4th step:
When you’ve edited the content and want to test something you only need to compress the file again. Use or generate a compress.bat or anything like that, use the command “ff_iw –k NAME_OF_THE_EDITED_SOURCEFILE NAME_OF_THE_NEW_GENERATED_FF-FILE 9” in it and run the bat-file. Don't forget the value 9 for best compression!

5th step:
Don’t forget the last step, add the additional IW-header to the new ff-file…

Hints:

In front of the files you will find the length of the file. 4 byte in little endian (reverse order). It often makes ripping of the files easier when you use the length.

Correct, it does not work. I don't think it involves any hardware mods, as Sony's system is one hack proof mother f*cker.

And there are gamesave hacks for the 360, but the 360 gamesave is completely different :(
And there are no converters or anything of some sort to make it PS3 format (as far as I know)

I'm digging around both Hunter and Unkn0wn's posts on PS3news (hunterrr and Gunner54 respectively, only relative info is posted, I removed some seemingly useless wording).

Also, please note: The following thread link is old and the quotes within are old as well, these appear to be from before Hunter hacked World at War, so take this information with a grain of salt.

At first my initial thought was some how pointing the EBOOT.BIN to another file that we modded, but I strongly doubt this is possible. Not really outside the box, but a vastly different theory that I've seen on here.

Here he is clearly discussing the HDD decryption with Unkn0wn states doesn't work. But, it is where they started, so it's where I'm starting. Though these posts are were they go silent and then next thing you know, they have MW2 hacks several months later. Maybe I should buy WaW again and try that lol.

Even though Unkn0wn keeps saying that it has nothing to do with HDD, I just cant let go of the idea i don't know why.

Ok, so I think it does involve something external. I think we have only two ways: USB device or a disc.

Where could we go from there? Is there a possibility we could modify data on the disc? Or does it involve introducing some code to the Ps3.

Maybe some USB device could be plugged to the ps3 to force it to run unsigned code. Hmmm.... keep on pushing us TheUnkn0wn. :y:

Well, I saw some of hunter's old post today on ps3news.com and he was asking about EBOOT.BIN and default_mp.self... Then another guy said "CJPC" 'the EBOOT.BIN may simply load the default_mp.self - going by the name, it is probably the main executable for the multiplayer aspect of the game'.... Eek
