Right, for christmas im getting another ps3 so it'll be on the oldest firmware, if i was to backup my ps3 [old] and restore on my ps3 [new]. Would it copy the firmware?
Because if you get a new ps3 and jailbreak it, you cant go online because you have to have the new firmware to make an account.
Obviously this would solve my problems noing if i should actually get a new ps3.

no it won't work and there is no 4.50 system (assuming you mean 3.50 which again the answer is probably no)

why wouldn't it work? would it copy firmware with it?

the firmware isn't stored on the hdd, if you want to do a quick test backup ps3, format hdd and switch ps3 on. Does it ask for firmware file? It wont as its stored on the nand rather than the hdd

yes i get your point but maybe somewhere they store it in the harddrive ONLY when you backup and then when you Restore it comes back on, who no's? no one has tested have they? if they have please reply.

and also if maybe invisible completely to computers ect.. maybe you need a specific tool to find it. but no one would actually no unless they have tested EVERYTHING. which i bet no one has, because the Theries will keep on going and going.

You wont be able to use a backup from one ps3 on another as the backup is unique to the ps3 it was made on. If this was possible we would all be hosting challenge lobbies without the need for 2 ps3's

has this got anything to do with a system code? maybe some good hacker could sort this out then?

people have tried there was software on ps3 news which was meant to do it but never worked except for the author
