Nope it doesnt matter if the Ps3 are different and heres a tutorial on how to transfer a modded patch from a Jailbroken ps3 to 3.55 Ps3.

I am error
Everytime I do it says ethernet cord is not connected when trying to transfer... I try to conect to net with 3.41 its allways says plug in ethernet then times out after few sec/min could this be the ethernet hub ? if I had someone other than sony do it will it void my warranty ? just wanna get this online /facepalm

Make sure you enabled a wired connection in your internet settings. (you probably are using wireless right?) And you do not need to sign in to PSN to do this.

Probably could be your Ethernet cord or some how your doing something wrong you made sure you connected the Ethernet cord on both of your Ps3's? Well this is how I use data transfer utility
1. Connect both of the ends of the Ethernet cord on both of your Ps3
2. Go on 3.41 ps3 and go system setting and choose data transfer utility.
3. On 3.41 ps3 choose option 1 and skip those steps until you can data transfer to your 3.55 ps3.
4. On 3.55 Ps3 go to system settings and choose data transfer utilty.
5. Choose option 2, but DONT CLICK IT YET.
6. Now on 3.41 ps3 choose the option to now start data transfer
7. On 3.55 ps3 NOW you can click option 2
8. While the data transfer is passing from 3.41 ps3 to 3.55 ps3 it will say if you want to format the 3.55 ps3 click yes.
9. If everything went successful you should have your modded patch on 3.55 ps3.
