yes he backed it up when 3.55 CFW was out. Alternitively somebody else with a 3.55 can data transfer to your OFW ps3

And would i have to send my hardrive to one of my hacking friends in america? Or can they just send me there backup files through mediafire?

You would have to send your ps3 i imagine, and i dont think if they send you the files it would work

Damn, I'll try with the backup theory first and if that doesn't work I'll just buy a 3.55 ps3 for Christmas.
How much would a 3.55 ps3 be?

No this doesn't work past firmware 3.55. You can't open a backup of the hard drive without the keys. No keys above 3.55. Your friend can do it because he made a backup of his 3.55 and the ps3 will read his backup because even though it is OFW, it still thinks it is just a 3.55 backup of official files. You can't use someone else's either. Backup files are PS3 specific. A backup on his will not work on his and vice versa.
