because a jailbreak only works on 3.55 or lower. PSN is on 4.1 firmware, any system below 4.1 can not get access to psn. thus needing 2 ps3s. One on 3.55 jailbreak, other on OFW 4.1.

It's possible to host with 1 ps3 online two ways:

1. e3flasher, progskeet, etc to downgrade/upgrade at will. You can bounce back and forth between 3.55 and 4.10
2. Start on 3.55, put your hacked patch on, update, play online. (HIGHLY not recommended)

Ok im a bit of a noob to this lol so basically the reason for having two is because you have your jailbroken one on 3.55 where you mod the patch and stuff, then you transfer that file to the 4.10 where you actually play? And also does only the 3.55 have to be jailbroken or does both have to be jailbroken?

Correct, data transfer. But people also have 3.55's for more than just COD hacking, they use them for homebrew, linux, pirated games, etc. So technically, no, that's not the only reason for owning two.



No, only 3.55 has to be jailbroken. It is impossible to jailbreak 4.10, because, as of now, one doesn't exist.
