Open your zone in hxd then hit ctrl+g and type 9C44 which is the offset of mw2_main_background then change the word main to sqre or sqrt and it will be checkered. If you want the checkers to move then ctrl+g 9ECE which is the offset for mw2_main_cloud_overlay and do the same with it. Just replace main with sqre or sqrt.
