You also get an extra class slot and a new set of challeges in barracks called prestige. Also for every gun you another 2 prestige challanges with reward you 10000 point upon completion. Eg. get 500 kills with the weapon and thats part I of the challenge. And for completeing each prestige challange you unlock a new title.

Someone told me you get one for all of them, but I don't think that's correct.

No it's not because you unlock a extra 5 through prestige.
