(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); People have been asking questions on how to tell you are the host before a match launches, this was easy in MW2 as you only paid attention to the ticker and if it disappeared it meant you are the host.

I've made a video to explain the methods for finding out if you are the host in a pre-game lobby.

Hope you have a better idea when you are host and found this video interesting.

The requested written guide below, NOTE: This does not tell you how to become host, it teaches you to tell if you are host or not with out leaving the match.

How To Tell You Are Host In Pre-Game Lobby

There are two guides listed below, for determining if you are host in before a match begins, determining if you are during a host migration in pre game lobby and host migration during a match.

Host before a match begins
=======================
Pay attention to the timer and the background music in the pre-game lobby
One of two things will happen, this depends if you are the host or not.

What happens if you are not host:
The background music will stop a second before the map screen shows. This is a noticeable gap between the music stopping and the map screen showing up.

What happens if you are the host:
The background music will stop WHEN the map loading screen shows up.
=======================

Host migration in a pre-game lobby
=======================
If the background animation freezes when the game tries to find a new host, this means either host has been passed on to you or the host right has been given away.
If any host migration has taken place then the scores on the right hand side of the callsign will be set to 0.

Currently Experimenting:
If host is passed on to you, then the animation freeze will be more delayed and more noticeable. (This is still being tested, the background animation does freeze when host is being passed around but it will affect the new host more than anyone else in the lobby)
=======================

Host migration during a match
=======================
What happens if you are not the new host host:
The host migration screen will say Awaiting Connection 0.. then Awaiting Connection 1...

(This has been the same since MW2 and Black Ops)

What happens if you are the new host:
The host migration screen will say Awaiting Connection 0.. then the screen will go black then you will see your self in game with the counter counting down.

(This has been the same since MW2 and Black Ops)

Its no longer that bad anymore for some reason, and this was before patch 1.06 aswell. There are now very rare moments of someone else getting lag advantage against me. The lag when host has decreased for me, I am getting 3 KD games. Its fine for me now.

i thought he said if it stopped earlier then you are NOT host but if it stops at the same time then you are host.

could be wrong but i'm pretty sure thats what he said.

Exactly what loki said, when the music stops a second before the map screen then you are NOT host.

If it stops the same time the map screen loads up then you are the host.

That one second pause is very noticeable, as I was waiting in a lobby and the music didn't stop because I was too accustomed to hearing the music stop. Then by running a few experiments and testing this theory I came to this conclusion, which is better than having nothing Smile.

EDIT: This isn't really an exploit so I don't know why it was moved, its just using the game to indicate something, it can be classified as a trick but it really isn't hurting the game at all. Unless I have misunderstood something.
