I was just curious to see what you guy thought made someone good. Im always in a lobby where someone is 10th prestige and some people say, back out back OUT! What is the first thing you look at when you join a lobby.

Do you judge peoples skill by:

  • There Prestige/ Level
  • There Title and or Emblem
  • There KD/ Win Loss
  • There Name or Clan Tag
  • How They Talk on There Mic
  • If You Join The Match and They Get a Sick Killcam or MOAB

They probably told you to back out because they wanted to boost with a full lobby. I see them sometimes but stay in the lobby to mess 'em up lolz.
W/L > K/D - Shows your a team player most of the time. Prestige doesn't really mean shiz with all the FFA Tac boosters (Don't know whos actually ranked up legit).

Cake is a lie
Guns, tactics(rush v camp), perks have little to do with it. There are terrible rushers, terrible campers, good rushers, good campers. So before anyone plays the "hig k/d guys camp and aren't good" card, STFU. There isn't an official COD skill commisoner so here is my personal opinion that I think is intelligent more than, "Idc if I went 5-25 and you went 30-5 because you suck and I'm good, k/d means nothing" excuse maker rants you will hear.

1. Ability to adjust. Knowing which weapons work in what situation. Knowing when to switch to anti UAV against uav whores. Knowing to put away the shotgun/sniper rifle if the enemy is full of good players. Instead of bitching about campers, they communicate to inform teammates of where people camp or having enough skill to flush campers out.

2. Awareness. Knowing not to call in UAV when counter is up. Paying attention to death skull notifcations. Knowing what the enemy likes to do and using your teammates positioning to better show where wnemies are.

3. Kill/Death ratio... Don't let anybody tell you it literally means nothing. That's like letting an ugly girl tell you "Beauty is only skin deep." People can ragequit, use pistols only, super camp, rush with "OP" weapons(my style), play in parties, bum hunt, etc. So there is always a need to take k/d with a grain of salt.

However guys with 1.5-3 k/d normally do very well in game with occasional bad games. Guys with 0.50-1.4 normaly do terrible or average with occasional good games.

Prestige level doesn't show how good you are... But if a guy is 0 prestige, lvl 15, you'd have to assume he sucks.

W/L is important but I'd argue it's less of an indicator than people claim k/d to be. You could have a 3 k/d but only have 1.5 w/l if you normally play solo, which could show your random teams suck. A .90 k/d guy with 3 w/l shows he probably plays in a party. It's easier to have a high w/l with a party than maintain high k/d with randoms...

Consistency, anyone can have a good game once in a while. However when you have a player that can pull 3-4 k/d games consistently then they are a good player (kill based game modes). In search I determine a good player by their clutching ability, it is not hard to win a 1v3 in search so people who can't do it 70-80% of the time aren't good(my opinion).

I agree with ER above me.

If you have a nice little win streak with a 1-2 KD for 3 games in a row, doesn't exactly make you a good player.
If you're playing TDM & you're in a public lobby & a player goes 3-4 KD or like 30 Kills - 4/5 Deaths almost every game, then you know they're experienced & have real skill.

It's hard to judge whether a player is good based on prestiges anymore, especially when it comes to CoD4, W@W, MW2 & BO. Too much hacking that involves no skill in game.

But yeah, that's how I feel. Smile

If I see that they have gotten to 5th prestige or higher on all previous call of duties, that tells me some true skill.

[/COLOR]Everything said above. In addition Id like to add in the ppm that used to be in black ops. Points per minute when used to compare non boosters shows to a great extent how good a player is. I used to average 500-600ppm in Bo when I was in my prime and would carry my team with 30-40 kills per match. I'd consider myself good cause I'd get the job done by rushing when I needed to and camping when I had to. Doing everything in the game effectively makes you a good player. A support player running emp and stealth bomber is just as important to the team as the person running pave low and osprey because each one has a job which when done right is what makes the team win.

One of the best definitions I've seen. You can't totally discard k/d but it's not the whole determining factor of a good player. I say that when I get into a lobby players that have a couple good games if they stay in a lobby with me for 6-7 games I'll get it going and make them want to back out which most players nowadays do. I'm competitive so if someone is good in a lobby I like to test my skills, if someone is annoying ie xm-25, not moving, slow paced games, then I back out.

Well I am mainly a search player the first things that go through my mind when judging someone who will be on the other team is are there any splitscreeners? Do I know who they are(are they known)? Then look at their name do they have some GB tryhard name? Then I check their stats; win loss, KD and score for the game mode I am playing. This gives me a fairly good idea of what I am going up against, but you can be surprised and someone can always have a good game or do something you don't think they will then you have to step your game up and counter what they are doing.

How do I judge friends as being good? They give effort every game and don't drop terrible scores and can carry their weight as a minimum. Then there are the truly good, when the pressure is on and you aren't playing trash people they can still carry and clutch.
