Its called Flash knifing, many veteran cod players (cod4 till now) know about and can do this effectively.

Xcal has the best explanation of it in this commentary where he uses it to better the riot shield.

Wow i know the lunge knife gitch which does this method exactly , and yet never thought to use this if i panic knife, good vid.
